Looking good! What does "black ink playing cards" mean? Other than, you know, that they have black ink on them... I feel like I'm missing something there

That's the name of Jody's company. Blank Ink is to Jody as Kings Wild is to Jackson.

Absolutely! Please ask. Does anyone happen to know where I got the name from? I am curious if anyone knows.

These are great but I love that signature edition card back. The color combination is going to look outstanding on the table. I'm excited for this campaign.

I love backstories, where does the name come from? Don't tell me the name comes from you always using black ink on your playing cards

Why are they "Robber Barons" when the Queens all "suffered" in some way for rights?

I'm guessing that "Black Ink" refers to the old tradition of ledger keeping where numbers / entries written in black ink was used to indicate income, while red ink was used to indicate outflow. Thus, a company / household / individual running "in the red" was spending more money than it was making, and "in the black" was making more money than it was spending.
Ergo, my guess is that "Black Ink" refers to the idea of profit.

These backs look beautiful, but I agree that there is a clanging dissonance between the biographies of the kings and queens.

I actually explain this in the opening introduction for the KS projects, which you can see once the project launches. Here is what I said: "The kings and jacks depict those that build empires through ruthless means and the queens are women that spent their life's energy to liberate those oppressed in many ways. It's a story of juxtaposition; misuse of power and strength from weakness, oppression and liberation..."
It's also very difficult to find woman that were rich, owned large business' and took advantage of people and government
Just saying...

Nice! I like that you make me seem more thoughtful than I am. I probably should come to you next time for figuring out good meanings for projects and identity.
The actual origin of the "Black Ink" name comes from my first successful project "Golden Spike Playing Cards" where I made a limited edition deck called "Black Ink edition". It is probably still my favorite tuck design. I used black foil on black tuck to depict the two trains meeting. Placing them side-by-side, one front, one back facing and the complete a diptych.

My only suggestion is to hold off on the launch another month or two, there is already too many decks on Kickstarter as it is, more will only hurt how much funding it gets. Also why is everyone has to release 3 decks nowadays on Kickstarter projects? Wouldn't one or two suffice?

The date is wrong. It's either the 22nd or 29th if it's this month.
Edit: I could have sworn it was for Saturday which is why I said that. Anyway looks like I was mistaken. Totally confused. Lol next time I'll just keep quiet as usual.

10am mst I'm in Colorado. Yes the early birds will be available for the first 24 hrs, but only 600 signature sets will be made and available and those could go fast. I have set a limited print run of only 1000 of the limite

It was great to meet many of you at the 52 Plus Joker this last weekend! I learned so much from all of you! For many of you who could not make the convention, be sure to put it on your calendar for next year in Cincinnati. It would be great to meet you all!
So, I had to hurry back to Colorado and make some final tweaks to my next project on my next Kickstarter project, Titans. This will be launching at 10am (MDT) this morning (in a little over an hour).
I have some great Early Birds and like last time they will last for the first 24 hours. I will only be making 600 of the Signature Series packs (3 deck pack) and 400 of the Leather cases with the limited deck inside. The limited deck will only be a 1000 print run.
I have included the changes I made to the design. Please let me know what you all think.

I like the new tucks & back designs more then the original. The Blue gives it a special pop that i missed on the originals.
The only difference i can see between "Standard Black" & "Standard Blue " is the brightness ?
If so would prefer another color for one of these (Red, Green ?)
Greets, Azid

I thought the same at first but that "brightness" difference you see is actually a different color- the black version is just that, black. But the blue version background color is actually a midnight-type blue, making it appear lighter in shade. I think this is one of those instances where the decks will look much better in-hand than on a PC screen. I hope and assume so anyway..

No worries. I noticed the color difference too. The inks will be spec the same when I send the files over. I just have too much to do right now to make the colors look right. Don't worry, those colors are going to be sweet!
