Fournier no. 370 de 1888

Saw this one online, looks pretty cool. A Fournier deck that has a vintage design to it. At least the tuck is very nice, it does have spanish suits. I am not 100 % sure if the name is acurate but Fournier always name their decks by numbers so it might be. Some pictures taken from Naipeszaca.com:

This deck is a commemorative reprint of the original deck of 1888.

This deck was originally presented at the Universal Exhibition in Paris (the same for which the Eiffel Tower was built). In that edition, Heraclio received a medal, not only for that deck but for the whole collection presented.

The original edition of the deck was made by a process called chromolithography, which were used as molds plates of stone; which he was a breakthrough in the world of cards and the possibility of high definition images that appeared on it.

Thet, I think, are a fack.

Fack is, those 'cartes de visites' were an astonishingly complicated Art in themselves, expressing the bearers personality (in the rich style of thet by-gone age) in extreme detail .... and collectors pieces in their own right, even then.

I got two of these today, along with some other stuff. First of all: This is a 40 card deck. Second: These are not poker size, but they are not bridge size either. They are wider than a bridge size deck but just not wide enough to be poker size (still closer to poker size). These also are a bit longer than poker sized cards.

The tuck has a very nice feel and look and the cards look pretty sweet too. If anyone is thinking of buying these, I say go for it, if the size and the fact that it is a 40 card deck is not a no-no for you.

They also fan much better than the 52 card Fournier decks that I own.

Poker size deck and this deck widness compare.

It is that much longer than a poker size deck.

In Spanish games like Mus, you only use 40 cards, so it's pretty common, in fact. Fournier has set the standard for all Spanish decks nowadays, so we don't even realize the different size. I'm also waiting for this deck to arrive, pretty excited as it's ironically the first Spanish one in my collection.

Fournier should do a Cartes de Visite umm .... Re-visit ....
They're certainly qualified/well placed to do so ....
European cards have such variety/intensity .... and some Cartes de Visite were fully full-on !!

Whosomever arranges to do such a work would need access both to the high-end printers and also those personal Cartes de Visite that exemplified that era .... such as these are not found just anywhere.
The V&A Museum in London and Fournier themselves would be best positioned to deflect the interference run against any proposal of this type.
