Inception Playing Cards now live on Kickstarter

I would love to hear what you guys have to say about my next and final series in the Inventor's series, The Inception Playing cards. I will be sending out more images of the tucks and eventually the cards in the next few weeks. I am planning to launch Inception April 12, 2016. It will be a 3 deck series as the previous projects were with one deck being the Signature deck that will have unique details to it. I am looking at some special material for the tucks and doing a copper foil (if I can). Has anyone seen a deck with copper foiling? As always, please let me know what you all think as I am finishing up all of the artwork this month and revealing what I have before the launch next month.

Yo Dawg, will there be a deck within a deck within a deck? :D

Good looking tucks but does not the middle one look a bit too much like Theory11's Medallions?

Your past decks have been great, looking foward to this (and Devastation)

Yes, I would love to see the actual deck come out as good as Theory 11's beautiful decks. They have some of the best materials and embossing I have seen. As for the design, I modeled that after my previous two projects Innovation and Devastation, the Signature decks. I wanted to keep them looking very similar for a very good reason that will be revealing months from now :)

Overall I think you're on the right track, but I agree with Rappylatassu, the middle deck looks way to much like the Medalions deck, and doesn't fit at all with the other two decks thematically in design.
Also the word 'Inception' being in the english language where 'Intellectus' and 'illustratum' both being in Latin, I might change it to 'Inceptio' and then also avound the overwhelming association with the hugely popular 2010 movie of the same name.
Can wait to see more, and the actual cards.

First I'd like to say thank you for the update on the Devastation decks, really looking forward to them! :D

As for my opinon, I think that the Intellectus text should be in the middle, to stay consistent with the other two decks. This is a deck series after all!

Very much looking forward to these.

I agree with the earlier comments about keeping the naming convention consistent. If you want to stay consistent with Devastation and Innovation, then Inception works, but Illustratum and Intellectus should probably be replaced (with Illustration and Intellection?). If you want to go with the Latinized forms, then Intellectus and Illustratum can stay, but Inception should probably be replaced (with Inceptio or Inceptus?).

I also want to say I very, very much appreciate that you are waiting until you begin fulfillment of Devastation before launching this project. It increases my already high confidence in you eleventy billion percent. So... thanks!

Traina Design ran a Kickstarter campaign for their custom deck, Borderline. Its printed by the USPCC and has a tuck box that is a matte brown with copper foiling and embossing. This tuck has a T11 feel, and the embossed copper foiling pops really well against the matte brown.

Also, Oracle by Chris Ovdyenko (Dead on Paper) has copper foiling on the tuck. It is one of my favorite tuck boxes. I'm not quick with the photos, so I don't have anything at the moment to post....

Also the Deco's:

Like sinjin said, copper looks real nice against a matte brown.

Nice! This makes me love copper foiling even more. Thanks for showing me what's possible and please don't stop. Another question I've had regarding tuck design, what do you look for in a great tuck design? If you were to make a list of the three most important things in a GREAT tuck design, what would that list consist of?

1. Solid design - You can have all the bells and whistles you want, but if the underlying design sucks, well, you really can't polish a turd...

2. Premium materials - Thick stock, embossing, foiling, the aforementioned bells and whistles.

3. Innovative features - Something we haven't seen before, maybe an interesting use of die-cutting, or a new way the tuck opens, or different materials

Consistant thematic design with the deck (And I would go so far as to say consistancy across a series of decks, someone else mentioned making sure all of the titles matched in their placement and orientation and I couldn't stress that enough)

A design that isn't cluttered or read as too busy (Exceptions for the back of the tuck showing the back of the card if the card back is cluttered/busy, but I personally prefer when tucks don't do this, I like the tuck back to have it's own art)

Thought given to every side of the tuck, not just the face and back, as well as the inside.

Also Oracle image attached, a truly stunning tuck.

Gnostic rose gold (Black tuck) also uses copper and silver foil in combination. Gorgeous tuck and also a very nice deck in my opinion.

I think that that wasn't the best joke. I think that they can always go to an another level. I think that my jokes could also go deeper in to the subject. But it's hard to limbo the line of a good joke and a bad one.

Thank you, thank you! I'll be here all week!

Based on some comments. I revisited the designs for the tucks and backs. The new design is so that the series is a more cohesive design. Let me know what you all think. Thanks!

The first 3 designs were ok with me but the 3 new ones plus the backs look great. I'm ready for faces and pips now.

On April 12, 2016, I will be launching The INCEPTION Playing cards. I have been working on finishing all of the artwork and getting the information out there and could use your help in my final few days. I am going to post the link to my Kickstarter page and would love your feedback. This is also to give you a sneak peek if you are looking to back my project. I am trying something different with my early bird specials, rewards and add-ons this time around. There will be 3 basic rewards with 3 early birds (6 reward tiers total). I am planning to keep the early birds up for 24 hours to give everyone a chance to get in on the better prices, including internationals. Your add-on prices will be based on the reward tier you decide to pledge for. Remember, if you have any questions and special requests, please don't hesitate to message me during the funding and we can work something out.

Here is the link. Please drop a line to let me know your thoughts and impressions: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/91 ... n=da16269c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looking great all around. Add-ons are a bit confusing. Is it possible to add decks to the signature tiers?

Are you meaning a single deck? Yes depending on which tier the early bird will be cheaper. You will be able to add a single deck for either $11 or $13 a piece.

I have been working on the reward tiers based on the questions I've been getting. Check out the new reward information: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/91 ... n=da16269c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just to let you know, if you are an international backer you only pay for shipping on one reward. If you add-on to your pledge the shipping stays the same until you add on a full brick. I think this is a great deal if you are an international backer. I hope you agree. Of course, U.S. backers get shipping for free.

I am still doing the vetting of the KS page, so please feel free to let me know what you think or if you see any issues that you think will arise during the funding period. Thanks everyone!

Do you have a time that you'll be launching on the 12th? Also I think the KS page/tiers look great!

I'm late to seeing your latest update and WOW, these look amazing. INTELLECTUS all the way for me, but the others look good too. The joker and the art style is a sure winner here. If only I had more room for an uncut, but I'm certainly in, possibly for multiples even. Well done!

The 3 deck set with just color and a few card differences is a bit of a turn off, but at least it's not to the level others have been doing and critically you are providing it an open option for us to select which we want without having to jump through hoops or select a premium tier. THANK YOU! I also just saw you are doing signature series with numbered seals as a separate set, awesome. I open my decks so paying extra for a numbered seal is such a waste, thanks.

Oh yeah, me too, I open pretty much ALL my decks. I was just saying it's a waste to spend extra on such collectible features that just get destroyed and value dropped. Not to mention I hate all seals, numbered or not because they just get in the way and are messy if you open the decks.

This is tomorrow gang! :ugdance: Jody, this is your best work yet.
