UC2015 Decks of the Year call for prizes

Unread post by Mike Ratledge »

I sent out a message by email to artists about a month ago, but we can always use more prizes!

If you would like to donate a prize to the pool, please contact volantangel soon, because we have voting set for February 12-21 this year - a few weeks later than usual.

Voting takes place and the best guesses using a weighted system (if you pick the 1st place in a category, and there were 17 or 18 categories last year, it's worth five points, 2nd place guess worth 3 points, 3rd place worth 1 point) by adding the points for each category, allowing / adjusting for ties.

We would like to have prizes for at least the top 12-15 guessers, but the more the merrier!

If we donate decks for the pool must we then also cover the costs to ship to the winner, no matter the country? If I recall it was possible to ask the winner to cover the shipping costs? For example, I'm OK donating decks and covering $6 US shipping, but possibly $20 or more international....

I PMed Kai earlier. I am donating three mixed bricks (1 brick per tier) so that's three from me. I am still looking so I may add to this.....

Last year it was agreed that the one donating the decks would cover shipping cost, domestic and international, but whomever chose that tier would have the option of assisting with shipping. Its part of the donating process. If you don't want to ship internationally but still want to donate, I would talk to Kai. I wouldn't consider it fair to force someone outside the US to pay for shipping.

I'm definitely going to be donating a few tiers. I've just got to get home and see what's available.

Here's my donation. Divvy it up as you see fit, Kai (though I wouldn't want to pay shipping 8 times).

Though neither of the things I specifically Kickstarted to giveaway for this have arrived yet, I was able to find something that I didn't really have the room for to donate - I'm glad that it will be going to a good home and I hope it brightens someone's day!

Here is the brick I am donating, all decks are new and sealed:

Top row, left to right:
Gold Artifice - An Ellusionist Black Club exclusive deck.
Origins Grail - Last year's winner of Deck of the Year, this is the Limited Edition.
Exquisite - This deck had the cellophane removed so it could be autographed by De'vo himself.
Ogma - Rare, hard to find deck that's been out of print for years. The tuck has some dings, sorry.

Middle row, left to right:
Split Spades - One of the best series ever made, this is the Silver Edition.
Charming Optical Illusion - USPCC produced deck for a Korean magician, very rare to find in the U.S.
Brut - An Uusi deck, so you know it's awesome, poker edition.
RJRTC Bee - Also known as the Watermelon deck, one of the best examples of Ohio USPCC casino-grade Bee stock.

Bottom row, left to right:
Crown Deck - Luxury Edition in red, one of BC's most exclusive decks and very under-rated series.
Vaudeville - Original edition, sold out for over 3 years.
Ultimate Universe - Nice deck from Gamblers, if you like colorful decks, you'll love UU.
White Lion - Series B in red.

Just realised I no longer have the half brick box.

So lets make it a cool brick - in a signed Ornate brick box!

I can donate:

1 Contraband deck
1 Bicycle Transducer Fire deck
1 Boardwalk Papers deck
1 Prime deck (Art of Play)
1 Pr1me Red deck
1 Pr1me Blue deck
1 Deckstarter Brand deck (the one without the seal)
1 Fournier 505 Red deck.
(1 Grimaud 1900 deck [printed in 1980])
(1 Fulton's October 2014/Aristocrat 727 Banknote/Something else)

Some help in shipping costs would be nice, at least if you are very far from Europe.

Edit: I might add two more decks to this. The other one is going to be a Grimaud printed deck from 1980 called "1900". I just ordered two of them from Spain and if they arrive safe and sound, I will donate the other one. There are pictures of that deck in the Worldwide Time Machine France thread, it's quite good looking! I will have to think about the other one. It might be a Fulton's October 2014 Edition or I could just give one Aristocrat 727 Banknote deck in red.
