I'm digging the red deck, but not so much the blue. Still, I'm in for an EB pair.

I like almost everything about this deck except the indices. They just somehow seem out of place.

They are a bit large.

I'm actually the opposite, I like the additional depth the blue deck has, although in the end I like the pair together! The red deck, in my opinion, has courts reminiscent of the style used in the Viridian deck, one of kardify's projects. The blue deck has this grim and ancient feel to it, which really brings out the Egyptian theme.

I do agree with vasta though, the indices are kind of weird looking.
And the pip arrangement on that 9 card? Hmm. I don't think it's working. :|

I don't see an option for add-ons or to buy two of the same color as a pledge level. What's a boy to do who wants two red decks? I'm sure they will offer additional at some point but one EB red deck it is for now I guess.

I'm leaning towards the blue deck myself but I do appreciate the deck as well. Would love to see the jokers.

They sure do have a lot of "early bird" decks.

I like the red deck better, I must not like realistic looking courts though these are very good. I might change my mind.

Keep in mind Scott likes to create about 4 more decks and tons of add-ons to his projects.

Really liking this deck, the Egyptian symbology lends itself perfectly to a playing card deck IMO.

Agree the indices are far too large, should be an easy tweak though if the creator decides he agrees...

I, for one, am glad for the numerous EB's as I did not see this project coming. A head's up would have been nice, Scott :-) I just got the Full Moon werewolf decks and they are awesome so I have no doubt that these will be great as well. Best of luck, Scott.

And here it is, the first tuck swap for $18, I'm betting the will be another 2 tuck swaps with a limited edition of 1500 at a $18-$20 picre tag.

Technically, it's not ONLY a tuck swap. The cards inside are red unlike the white deck or black deck. So tuck swap + recolor.

I predicted this 2 weeks ago, lol.

Btw there already is a red deck, it's just a tuck swap, don't fool yourself. Tired of overpriced tuck swaps just for the sake of having a limited version. How long before the other tuck?

Not sure if there's have been any other update but in the one announcing the red tuck:

Interesting. I specifically asked in the KS comments on the update if the tuck housed the white faced cards or black faced cards. Scott replied, "Hi Andrea, this one is the red deck :)" Which I interpreted as something different. My bad. He was talking about the regular red deck, meaning the white faced cards. So just a tuck swap. *sigh*

The fun thing is to buy off their own eBay store. I picked up all the 'Get Made' tuck swaps (Stork Club, Cotton Club, Empire and Kingpin 'ULE') for much less than they charged on KS a few months ago.

Yeah, I was a little peeved when I saw the Full Moon decks available online for 10buck less than I paid for on KS less than 2 months after I received my decks. Though I do like this deck more than the Full Moon decks, I will also wait until after the project is done and then decide whether I will pick up a pair. :|

I've already told this before he sells his decks on ebay for less than he asks on KS, this guy is one that I decided not to support anymore some projects ago, besides his projects are just tuck swaps over tuck swaps, when I contacted him confronting with the fact that he sells his decks on ebay for less money than he asked on KS he tried to get excuses, and avoid the question... So a big NO MORE to Crooked Kings

If this is true than there's no way that business model (if that's what you want to call it) will last. The more people that become aware of this, the less people will fund their projects. And if their projects don't fund, they won't have decks to sell for cheaper on ebay...

I totally agree with you! I just hope that he stops this. I not the kind of person that likes to pay higher value for something that I could get for less. Not to mention that you put your money upfront so he can produce the deck. So there's really no advantage in supporting this guy.
If his projects stop funding maybe then he changes his "busibess model" until then I'll be more than happy to wait for the decks to hit ebay.

Again, if this is true, the way I would look at it is the backers of the project are being punished for being the sole reason the project succeeded in the first place while the non-supporters reap the benefits of lower prices! It's would be like if a president got elected and lowered the taxes for all the people who didn't vote for him. ...among other analogies.

I won't say they are being punished, but I would say that there's no real advantage in supporting this guy, besides the special limited tuck swaps editions, that I believe there was one or two that didn't hit ebay as he sold all in the KS. So if that's a good reason for a supporter to back him, then I guess that's a advantage as any other...

Retailers can sell their decks for however much they want but you would think the KS creators would send the KS backers their rewards firsts before the retailers? I don't know how it works.

So, I was trying to figure if it was worth commenting on here, given the nature this conversation has turned, and I ultimately decided it was.

I do monitor this forum regularly, and don't even know if it's worth commenting on, but I don't try to skirt issues or make excuses, so I figured it was worth a shot.

1) Tuck box swaps- Love them, hate them- everyone's different for sure. But, at the end of the day it doesn't matter- If you don't like them, then just don't add them. I'm an avid comic book collector and I buy the variant covers all the time. It's the same comic/story/art on the inside, but with a different cover. I buy variants because I like the art on the variant cover. It's a different way of presenting something, and it's a collectible of something I like. Tuck swaps are the same thing, and typically have more bells and whistles then the standards. Lots of folks do tuck swaps, and it's a common practice in this industry. Negatively spinning alternative tucks to the standard tucks doesn't do any good, and only serves to deter designers from creating them- ultimately hurting the folks that do like them and diminishing the collect-ability of anything not standard. No creator has ever forced their hand into your pocket and taken the money out of you wallet and thrown a tuck swap at you have they? :) At the end of the day, if you want a tuck swap then get one. If not, then don't. But, being like, "oh, here comes the swaps. I bet he'll have 2 or 3". In my opinion, it serves no purpose other then to damage. I say if you like the deck, then that's great- back it. You don't need to get something you don't want, and if you leave a project just because they've added something you're not interested in, then that's just strange.

2) Ebay- So, this was a misstep, that has since been corrected. We have not had any auctions for a while now (I believe it's around roughly 3 months), and I completely agree with your sentiments. Our intentions were not to cause issues with our previous backers, but to figure out what to do with extra decks. We noticed most of the wholesale folks were already on there, and thought it would be an okay means to sell decks. Obviously we didn't walk the dog all the way through, and for that we apologize. Again, we have since corrected that issue and no longer on there.

3) Victor/jerichoholic- We have had conversations in the past, as I'm sure you remember, and while you are completely entitled to your opinion, I would AGAIN ask that you try to restrain your negative, hurtful, and damaging comments to the best of your ability. Encouraging folks to get on my project page and post negative comments is blatantly disrespectful, rude, and I'm sure KS staff wouldn't be to keen on it either. Spreading negativity and shunning folks that like something you don't, is immature and hurts the community as a whole. If you take issue with anything that we may or may not have done, then shoot me a message or email me- I'll be happy to answer your question, or clarify your point. In the past (and I'm not even speaking to my own projects now) you have been rude to other designers and even "misstepped" yourself a few times, forcing you to eat crow. I don't know if you just are a generally negative person, or what, but I'm told you've been banned from various forums a few times because of this same issue. With all of that said, I do recognize your knowledge and expertise that occasionally shines through. I would implore you to try and utilize that for the betterment of projects and the entire community as a whole. Not just tearing down something you don't understand or don't like. Presentation of a critique doesn't have to be delivered in the form of a slap to the face...Remember you catch more flies with honey then poop.
