Huh.

I have found some of their decks to be quite worthwhile, and when they do a project on Kickstarter that gets funded, they always ship ahead of the anticipated schedule. I like the Old Masters quite a bit, and while Vincent didn't grab me, I'm thinking that Sistine has a place in my collection.

To each their own, I guess.

Now it's a marked deck for Court Cards...

WOW!! These are probably the most beautiful art decks I have ever seen on Kickstarter!
Johnny Whaam

Yep, creator of these decks talking :D , I might be a little bit subjective here but aren't we all...
Actually, I think UUSI art decks (hand painted decks inspired by actual famous (or not) paintings) are right up there with me when it comes to artwork quality, not all of their decks, but most...

I always read your comments guys and I always appreciate a good substantial critique, thanks for that. Makes me do better designs.
I rarely respond here and explain details, cause I put it all on KS, everything you need to know about why, how and what...I write there in text.
I respect everyone's opinion so I don't say nothing, usually.

I'm gonna try to respond more and be active more here on forum for my future designs.

Few things,....these art decks are homages to greatest artists in the world.
Vincent's Royals: this deck is poetry, deep,....the name of the deck and those common people's portraits says it all about one of the most famous painters. So much thought put into it and skill to make paintings look like his (I'm a realistic painter but can work in any style and technique)

Sistine: as for Vincent, the idea to do an homage to Michelangelo in such way is superb. Frescoes in Sistine Chapel, Vatican.. The most difficult paintwork ever (he painted 4 years that ceiling) now it's recreated there, on playing cards. What an homage! Biblical story of creation of the world, in pictures, in playing cards, in your hands.

Few responses on comments here.
I don't see how it's a marked deck,....unless you decide to show face card to the other player how is he supposed to see the face of your card ?

Getting tired of CPC decks ?
I, (Johnny Whaam) am the creator of following decks; Emotions, Creepy, Iron Kings, Old Masters, Elegance, Disruption, Physique, Profile, Essence decks, Collar decks, Crystallum, Phenographic, Viola, US Presidents, Bellezza, Vincent's Royals, Sistine...
Hard work behind every deck design. Most versatile and productive deck creator (take a look at all those various styles). I always try to do it differently, that's what artists do. I do tucks the way the style and theme requires, art decks are calling for such tucks, the way I see it.

One more thing, I speak for myself here, not CPC.
I'm a freelance artist and I chose to work with CPC on playing cards because they're the best at what they do. I create the designs and I am totally focused only on designing, painting, drawing,...Artwork. Everything else is done by CPC and they do it perfectly...as all backers and customers are surely aware.

And, 2nd attempt on Vincent's deck, not 3rd.

It's not a short post, I'm aware,...had to say few things.

Thanks to all who support my designs,...not everybody will like everything or anything that I do. Just hoping some day everyone will like at least one of my designs (or parts of it), there's so many different and more to come so that would be easy to achieve, wouldn't it... And then I'm happy :D
I appreciate your thoughts, comments and please, if you have any questions for me, I'll surely try to respond promptly from now on.
Thanks...

Johnny

Whaam - What an entrance have you gone to the Introduce yourself thread? It seems we need to give you a bump up from Novice. This makes me wonder if you have used different names on this forum since you have made so many decks. If you don't see that your cards are marked, YOur deck is an art deck. There is an advantage to knowing if a player have a court card or a pip card. I don't respond to art decks. It's a waste of my time... I'm more for Playability.

@sprouts1115

You don't have to wonder, all my designs have "designed by Johnny Whaam" text on the bottom of tuck case. All my designs have been on Kickstarter (you can find them there) and I rarely posted here (that's about to change), always as Johnny Whaam, with this profile, "Whaam".
Backers that supported CPC decks know of my designs.

It's not that I don't see how my cards are marked..., it's that they aren't. If your looking at a players back of card, you cannot see if he's holding a court or pip card, backs are all the same. When printed, cards are cut, the face design doesn't extend to sides so nobody can know what you're holding in hand. I'm always working (designing) with Playability in mind and all my designs are...playable.

If you don't like art decks, I respect that. Not everybody likes art.
Hope you like some of my other designs.

Wow you certainly have a high opinion of yourself. Sorry but i beg to defer, while your decks are decent, they are certainly not up there with UUSI, well in my opinion of course.

@ volantangel

I respect your opinion. I'm just realistic, I do like most UUSI decks very much, wonderful decks, great painting skill. Their overall designs (on some decks) could be better than my art decks (personal preference).
But if we're talking about painting skill, compare their best paintings (UUSI Classic imo) and mine (Old Masters, with Leonardo's Mona Lisa and all greatest painters). Old Masters are all hand painted too (as all my decks).

They (UUSI) just have a different style (which is great, art for sure), mastering the technique is what I'm talking about (that's what I meant)...

(it would seem I can paint in many styles, many techniques....list of my deck designs; Emotions, Creepy, Iron Kings, Old Masters, Elegance, Disruption, Physique, Profile, Essence decks, Collar decks, Crystallum, Phenographic, Viola, US Presidents, Bellezza, Vincent's Royals, Sistine...)

I don't have a high opinion of myself, I just know what I'm worth, what I can do and am doing. Nothing wrong with that, I guess.
