No.17 Playing Cards "Le Chat Rouge"

Unread post by Stockholm17 »

Guys, introducing "Le Chat Rouge" (= The Red Cat)

as you maybe know I am working on Gemini, but also on this one. It is quite a news, since I kept it secret until now.
It is the 3rd and last version of No.17 Playing Cards family. It resembles the look of the Crown Edition and I am thinking of doing a 1000 decks limited edition.

The faces will be tweaked/improved/changed, I list here the features and the specs
  • printed by EPCC
tuck: black paper, red foiling, black foiling and embossing (as heretic noctis)
    54 cards (so far)
    new jokers
    new back, with red foiling.
tweaked courts (for now not the illustration, just the layout).
aces: ace of spades demoted, ace of diamonds promoted (lol, this is a bit heretical)
    custom seal with numbering
    1000 units
most likely it will be a short and simple kickstarter campaign with one or two stretch goals, in october or september.
well... more cats then :) and work in progress.

Are red cats good luck? Would there be another color cat as a stretch goal?

Art is top notch as usual, but I am not thrilled with the demotion of the Ace of Spades and promotion of the Ace of Diamonds. This is Le Chat Rouge, the 3rd deck in the No. 17 trilogy, not the 3rd deck of your Heretic series. For me, demoting the AoS is too "heretical" for me and not consistent with the other No. 17 decks. Again, if this was done in a deck in the Heretic series, then maybe I can understand, but it doesn't make sense to me for the No. 17 trilogy.

Thanx!
I totally understand the feeling... the ace of spade is the ace of spades :) ...but I like to try new ways and deliver something different.
And this is the red cat, I had to put it on a red ace :)

Meanwhile the 2 jokers are almost ready... just some small tweak needed.
Both card revealers: ace of diamonds and ace of spades :)

Thank you guys for the nice comments

Very, very nice tuck. Since the theme is red/diamonds, perhaps instead of any tweaking of the courts you could do a bit of transformation to the diamond pip cards?

Ok, on the No. 17 decks. For a second there, I thought there was Bicycle branded Le Chat Rouge decks with black cats.

Well, of course I really like it...You need to just stop Lorenzo, you have taken enough of my money!

Looking forward to this and I like the black/red look here and the revealed joker, very cool. I also really hope the card back also features a black and red look like the tuck, it's glorious. Red metallic or foil, even better! EDIT - Just saw this, but can you confirm that it will be BLACK with red foiling?
new back, with red foiling.
However, please, please don't make different variations of this deck, which is in itself a variation of another deck. I'm personally getting really burned out on all the special tucks/seals/minor tweaks etc.

EDIT - Just saw this, good news!

I get the point of variations. I´d like to call it "evolution of a project"... not just a color swap... even if many elements are the same as V2.

No.17 V.1 was a promotional deck for Cardlauncher... Not even mass produced (around 500 made)
No.17 V.2 Bicycle Branded and Unbranded is how I wanted it. and you see the huge differences from V.1
No.17 V.3 "Le Chat Rouge" will be the last version, improved and different. Here the red does not become blue or the other way round, it is not a NOC or a Fontaine.

That´s how I see it. :)
Heretic did not go through 3 steps publicly. But there is a Version 1 that was never produced. I have produced a couple of prototypes that I dont even know where they are now lol. But I can find the pictures.
3 is the perfect number... or was it 17? ahah

thanx for the comments
cheers

Guys
I am working on the faces

I am tempted to put a black frame on the borders, for all the cards. EPCC makes a perfect registration. If it was USPCC it was a big no no.
Let me know your thoughts
cheers :)

+1 for NO black boarders.

Instead of a red crown on the top right, a red cat would served the deck better! ;)

Black borders pertains to death notices/condolences but we can ignore that.
Looks ok to me.
