Seems determined to do it as an art deck with mixed styles for each court. Hearts - Victorian Era Anatomy, Spades - Victorian Era advertising, Clubs - bizarre Victorian Era story telling, Diamonds - Victorian Era nature illustrations.
Website is now up at least (darkmattercards.com)
It will be released in August and self funded, printing by MPC.

This is a little too creepy for my tastes.

Interesting... this might be the first time ever that'd I'd rather own and display the uncut sheet rather than the deck itself.

Pass for me. Why do some cards not even have suits?

Yeah I like these... could have done four different decks though instead of the one.
The Nature illustrations are my favorite suit...those courts are fabulous

At first kind of odd, but it grows on you. It would be optimal if it were four different decks, but....I think we're beyond that point.

Love everything except for the courts of the nature suit. I mean they're interesting but, they just don't seem to fit in with the art styles of the rest of the deck.

I like it ! It reminds me of the Hendricks gin deck that I have !

A few more details posted and basic website is now up, I updated original thread with those details. They also gave confirmation that MPC is the planned printer and self-funded, no movement on making any changes either. I really would have preferred to see each suit made into it's own deck, but we'll see if maybe that can be a future followup, who knows. The clubs and hearts are just awesome stuff.

If you would like to reserve a deck(s) for yourself, just click the "Order your deck" button at the top and follow the instructions. There is no deposit required to reserve your deck. I only printed 100 decks and 36 were already reserved in the first 24 hours.

I've read through this thread and it's great to hear others excited about "Vellichor".

Also, I may do a run of uncut sheets depending on interest level. So if you are interested in an uncut sheet follow the same instructions for reserving a deck but just ask to be added to the uncut sheet list.

Reserved two ! Love the style =)

I want to clear up something that people seem to be misunderstanding about this deck. The diamonds do have a suit marker. If you look closely at the 10 and 4 of diamonds in second image in this thread you will see the diamonds within the numbers themselves.

Guess what I got in the mail today.

I'll try and have my payment system set up in the next 24 hours so I can get these shipping to those of you who pre-ordered the deck. I'll take some decent photos of the actual cards soon. The cards look great, no one will be disappointed in these cards I assure you. The colors are vibrant and the images clear. Thanks so much to all of you who reserved a deck.

The teaser said coming Aug 2015, but now you have them available already? Is this a prototype deck and later printing more or doing a crowd funded? Did you just move the date up?

Simple answer.... I just moved the date up.

The decks got here a week earlier than I expected and I figured it would take me another week to get photos up on Etsy Amazon etc.... so early August seemed like a safe bet.... but the fact is that 74 decks have been reserved already so I just figured I'd get them out to those people.

This is not a prototype. Later printing will not be done with crowd funding. This is it for this particular deck.

Glad to hear it and glad this is all happening well before original August date. HOWEVER , I was really hoping for next day from order shipment so it has a chance to be here by Friday, but I understand you would likely rather do them in bulk for efficiency. Looking forward to it.

My accountant says I have to collect 6% sales tax for the state of Florida. I will check with him again to make sure... if I find that this is not the case and he misunderstood how I was selling the decks then I will gladly refund the collected tax via PayPal to each person who purchased a deck.

If anyone wants to shed some light on this I am all ears.

If your business is based in Florida, you have to charge Florida residents sales tax. If you have a "nexus" (typically corporate headquarters or retail stores) in other states, you have to charge sales tax in those states as well. Everyone else is considered an out-of-state transaction, therefor no sales tax (This is the very simplified layman's explanation).
