Gemini by Stockholm17 (Lorenzo)

Unread post by chach »

I don't want to stand on any toes, but this was posted to Instagram earlier. To say I'm excited is a major understatement. :ugdance: Looks like we have another winner from Lorenzo. I should just add your name to my bank account so you can make auto withdrawals for everything you put out, mate.
Stockholm17 wrote:UNVEILING THE NEW DECK "GEMINI" presented by the #queenOfClubs . I am quite happy with the color palette and I am going for this. Changes and tweaks will be done. So, why Gemini? in latin it means TWINS and all the courts will have 2 different faces, as I did for the 58th card of Heretic playing cards. A lot of work to do, this is just the beginning The queens will wear awesome jewelry made by @molaxchopa #customPlayingCards #geminiPlayingCards #stockholm17 #gemini #deckOfCards #playingCardArt #cardporn #queen #pokerCards #illustration #graphicDesign #clubs #design

Simply stunning. Beautiful and elegant.

Lorenzo is perhaps the most unappreciated designer in this world nowadays. His cards are at the same level of those that ask $100 for a deck. IMO.
Your heart is free. Have the courage to follow her.

As always, it can only get better as you tweak it along the way.

"Molax" is an old friend, I have one of her Fire & Brimstone framed uncut tucks she sent when we were first looking at Indomitable Warrior a year or two ago. That's the name she uses in the business, so I won't unmask her, but as far as jewelry design, you could not have found nor picked a better person! She has done some incredible bespoke jewelry!

His update also included an updated version of the QoC, the background work is not intrusive and works so well ! Absolutely lovely =)

Wow! This looks to be a great deck. Love how each court tells a little story. I wish to make a deck similar to this.

Normally, I would bitch about a border around the indices, but with his outer cut border being thin, his indices look good. I guess the trend is small suit indices with a big fat suit indicator.

I like his use of cloth and making it seem 3D-ish. Wave that cloth and show some depth. This guy was the master of Warning nudity: cloth and transitions. By transitions, I mean, he could put a foot by someones ear and make it look good.

I am definitely thinking of EPCC for many reasons, one of them is the thin border and I need a perfect registration :)

You mean uncuts aren't a standard pledge for a Lorenzo deck for you? Unfortunately I only have one version of the requiem, $50 was a high price tag, but I have all three heretic, No 17 V1, and a pair of No 17 V2 pledge for.

How about translations?

- Gemelo (Spanish)
- Gemina (Latin)
- Doppelgänger (although this one is a more "evil twin" kind of thing I think)

I saw his deck, standard faces and custom back. Not a real Gemini concept as I am willing to do.
But let´s see if he gets funded on ks first. Long way before I am done tho

I like the softer old-world feel of this one. Reminds me a bit of the Venice Simplon Orient Express deck:

Especially with the background patterning.

Uusi had the same thing happen when they were getting ready to launch "Classic" and Bill/CARC came out with their Classic decks. Now I just have to negotiate a branding fee because everyone is using "UC". ;)

Do like they did and stick to your guns, "Stockholm17 Gemini" works just fine.

Of course, Pintson's deck looks like a Bohemia clone, but not that much. Kinda homely...
