PCDB v2 Progress Update

It's been a while since I've seen daylight, but things are starting to piece together now :)

I have finally got the export/import scripts working. They take less than half a day to move all of your data to the new server and resize them to fit in with the new specifications. I had no idea just how many decks and images you guys have added to the site before I ran the import :D This means that all of your collections will be ported over too. It's really exciting seeing the website take shape now that it's got a snapshop of the PCDB v1 data in it.

Now I'm just working on some aesthetic changes today. I'm doing a lot of work to get this working in Drupal so that we have a steady reliable platform to extend in future, so I expect when we do go live we'll be missing a few key features. I hope you can all continue to be patient, it will all be worth it in the end :) I'm also dropping a couple old features, and adding some exciting new features. And yes I'm being deliberately vague :D

I'll hopefully open up some private beta testing over the next week or two, so let me know if you're interested in helping out.

Thank you Rhu for the great news. :D
I have an event coming up which is taking most of my time to prepare for, but I can manage to take a few stabs at the beta if you like.

I love the database. It's a great place to store my collection and wishlist. So much cooler than a Word document. Thanks for all your hard work!

Private beta for PCDB v2 will hopefully be opening this weekend, I'll PM everyone here with a link then :) We'll still be missing a few key features and it's likely we'll go live without them to start with, but it's all going to be worth it in the long run.

Also, I know I'm super far behind all the support requests. I have at least 3 people I need to approve as contributors. I'll see what I can do about blasting through all of the e-mails tonight.

Thanks for your patience!

Trying to send out the super secret link to the new site ;) Just have to patiently wait for the forum to believe I'm not spamming.

Hopefully that's everyone got a link to the site now, if you have not got yours yet (or if you would like one!) let me know :)

IMPORTANT NOTE: All changes made on the beta site will NOT BE SAVED. It's all for testing purposes only :)

The old site is down because of an issue with the hosting provider, hopefully they'll solve it soon!

The staging site is down because I'm still working on it :D

Rhu Are you sure your hosting provider did not just kill the site... It has been down almost 2 days now

Yeah, I think this needs a closer look, unless you have positive confirmation from the provider they are working it.

It's like it was completely dropped by DNS for some reason and I no longer have the IP cached to try direct (online last IP I can find is 5.77.35.62 which is also dead). The domain doesn't expire until August though so somethings off. Looks like it's hosted by UK Go Daddy or eUKhost LTD, but no listed outages I can see for either.

Here's a link: http://euk-status.com/2015/05/21/access ... mment-1188" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They keep telling me it's almost fixed, then tell me a new reason why it's not. I would rather not have to to port it to a new server since it will take me away from working on the new site.

I'll chase them again just now, and update shortly!

They assure me that the data is intact, but will take "time".

We have a plan B, caffeine and coding :D We might be going live sooner than expected ;) Stay tuned!

Rhu if you want to look at hosting server in the US I can help.... I owned a web server for 12 years and never had more than half of day without service

We were switching server to a new company anyway, so we're all sorted! :) Everything is ported over now. We might be missing some data for the week before the site went down but pretty much everything else is intact.

It's been a super busy weekend trying to get the new site launched ahead of schedule. I'll hopefully update with links soon! :D

For those without Facebook, here's the update posted there yesterday.
Just a quick update on the status of the site - Rhu (the developer) was already working on v2 and a new provider, but with the recent down time from the previous provider he is making the effort to go ahead and just migrate now and move to the early v2 release. We expect to be back up in the next few days. Sadly, due to the downtime from the former provider, a backup had to be used and may be loss of a few-several days of data, but we'll be back!
Those curious may have already noted that if you head to your collection (http://playingcarddb.com/mycollection?u=6134) you'll see a redirect to a temporary site. You can then go reset your password ( http://portfolio52.seasonsplayingcards. ... r/password) and you 'should' be able to continue adding decks to your collection or see what the new site looks like. However, it's still not fully ready with all options though so I wouldn't spend too much time updating deck content or trying to add new decks (that doesn't seem to even be up yet anyhow). Rhu will have much more on this when it's fully ready for use and related announcements, yes Alex Chin of Seasons is helping getting us back up and possibly more (again more on that later).

Progress is being made and I wouldn't recommend anybody spend too much time updating decks since we are still early Beta, but I felt an update was needed especially since the redirect is now working and questions were coming in and some of you have discovered the new site already. Again, Rhu will be providing a more detailed update when appropriate.
