Kaleidoscope deck
Okay guys. So I have been working on a deck of cards over the past few months and I want to share some of my progress. My hope is that I can get some solid feedback from everyone so I can better the product. I have a final back design but I am now trying to pick the right color scheme. I am working with a reputable designer from my area and she has helped me put together this design. I have then put together some color schemes.
I am a freshman at Siena College in NY. I'm into cardistry so naturally I designed a deck geared more towards cardists but I want to appeal to as many groups as possible.
As far as the faces, the ace of spades and jokers will be completely custom. I am going to keep the rest of the cards stock for the most part. I will probably throw in some minor custom touches on the court cards. The reasoning behind keeping the face cards relatively stock is because I have a couple local casino connections and I want to eventually work with them. As I am sure you all know, casinos require stock face cards.
I plan to make this deck through EPCC. I am going to use a side tuck box in an effort to set the deck apart from others. If anyone has any ideas for the box feel free to shoot those out there as well. I am also open to name ideas!
All feedback is welcome! If anyone wants to put together some color schemes just shoot me an email and I will send over the AI file. My emails is sc20brun@siena.edu

Re: Kaleidoscope deck
I have to say I think all of them are too muted for a kaleidoscope deck. More contrast would work better IMO.

Re: Kaleidoscope deck
As far as Kaleidoscope goes, I agree the back is too laid back. But I have to admit I like the color palette used on the second and fourth. The last one reminds me of the Pocono Modern deck.
I understand why you'd like to keep the courts standard, but would you consider mixing the palette up a bit to match the back?

Re: Kaleidoscope deck
This one definitely pops out more than the others! I do like the use of primary colors - were you thinking border(less)?

Re: Kaleidoscope deck
Ok colours aside, that last one gave me a headache. I think your back design is not detailed enough to be a Kaleidoscope, I imagine a mixture of big and very small pieces rather than some things rather uniformed like yours. Perhaps take a step back and do more research on the topic before designing.

I have to agree. this pattern looks more like a stained glass window than a kaleidoscope image.volantangel wrote:Ok colours aside, that last one gave me a headache. Feeding the addiction one deck at a time.

Re: Kaleidoscope deck
I agree. I have had multiple people say I should change the theme to a stained glass theme. I altered the design a little bit and put it on a deck to hopefully get a better idea of what it would look like. Thoughts?Cbkimble wrote:I have to agree. this pattern looks more like a stained glass window than a kaleidoscope image.volantangel wrote:Ok colours aside, that last one gave me a headache. I agree the design is bold and loud but I want to catch the attention of everyone who passes it. The tuck box is more minimal and less loud so ideally it will even out.
What theme fits better? Stained Glass or Kaleidoscope?
Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Kaleidoscope deck
Honestly, neither. Its your design that needs changing, not the theme.simoncrownbruno wrote:Stained Glass or Kaleidoscope?

Stained glass usually has bold colors.Yashi wrote:I find the colors to be too bold to be stained glass. The stained glass pattern is sort of there but I think it lacks intricacy.

Re: Kaleidoscope deck
Yeah but stained glass is also translucent. It doesn't seem to have that feel. "Bold" was probably a wrong choice of word.jerichoholic wrote:Stained glass usually has bold colors.Yashi wrote:I find the colors to be too bold to be stained glass.
