Do we seriously have an issue on the site with too many people posting at once, that we need to limit the traffic? Pretty damn annoying, if you ask me.

It doesn't protect against spammers, as is evident by the 5-10 spam messages I've tagged in the last several days (just did one 2 minutes ago).

It's the forum default. 60 seconds between your own posts.
Thoughtful, meaningful posts with substance dont come more than 60 seconds apart anyway.

It's because there are pieces of software out there that can churn out 300 character posts every 2 seconds as a form of spamming (normally to add links to a post/signature/profile) the place. I'm all for it.
