dear friends, I know it's a long time since my last post, I'm just more comfortable with Facebook, but anyway our deck "smoke" has experienced some delays and already one edition (Christmas Edition). Now we are revamping the design for KS, please find attached some details (the complete drawings will be ready in few days).

Well, the same of the Christmas Edition (more on this here: http://www.passionplayingcards.it/home/portfolio/smoke/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

We revamped the graphics.

I'm kinda resentful non of our forums goers gave us the heads up on the Xmas Editions being a thing. I try to follow as many social network accounts as possible but still..

Anywho, looking forward to the KS version!

I wish I had known about it too.

Really glad these are still going to be on KS. One of the decks I've been looking forward to. Need some! :D

I thought I was stupid since I missed the Christmas Edition release. Turns out I'm not the only one who missed it.

Thanks, and welcome back to UC, Riccardo! I will add you to the Deck Artist group.

Sorry about that fellas. Lot was going on at that time. Wish I had ordered more now.

There really was an intense amount of things happening around Christmas. That doesn't even take into account the normal seasonal things we all have cooking with friends and family. Pretty difficult to keep all of that straight. Even with a lot of us missing out on decks like this. It was pretty spectacular fun. ;)

I really like this deck, but I'm still waiting on my decks from the Christmas Edition release. I ordered them late, one of the last to get them so I figure the intl shipping is just taking a while. Well, that's what I'm hoping at least. Don't want them having been lost.

chach, I can track it, to be sure. Could you please write to my address or send an mp?

To all: Christmas Edition was mainly intended for the Italian audience. We wanted to send something in time for Christmas and it was not possible for the other countries. In the website only domestic shipping fees were available. However I do managed to send some decks abroad, when directly requested. Since only 100 decks were made, you can imagine there was no time to do a proper marketing campaign.

I have only 2 for myself.. sorry.

Anyway the KS edition will be great! I'm sure about it. And maybe we can do something also for the nostalgic about the "Christmas Edition"

I'm really sorry for not being on this forum much more, but.. well.. Facebook destroyed my spare time, both for leisure and for business reasons... :-(

Thanks, but I guess I should've said something earlier as I just got back from the post office with them. Beautiful cards, and I even opened one of the decks even though there's only 100 that were printed. Can't wait for the full release, will you be going with USPCC as your printer?

ETA: Here's some pics of the Christmas Edition. Deck# 88/100

Thank you! I was just not connecting the username with you :)
Right now I'm working with LPCC.

Maybe you could do without the boxing in the courts for the new version? :)

Maybe do a USPCC stretch goal. That seems to be a good stretch these days.

Well.. personally I believe that LPCC can provide top quality cards. If you don't want to use the "Bicycle" logo (and honestly we would prefer not - since we want to create a new brand) I see no major differences. The other issue is that we are already shaping the stretch goals, and.. we already have many options... don't know if we are going to do it, wonderful projects have been created with LPCC/EPCC.

I agree about the Bicycle-branding. I personally am bias to Bicycle-branding but will always back a project based on art/design first and foremost. Including this one. :D

The fact is that to some (and I have no idea of exactly how big this group is) USPCC is still the best printer of playing cards, and that remains a factor in their ideal of any deck. But it does seem like more and more people are indifferent to the choice between USPCC and LPCC/EPCC, and the quality gap between them has been getting narrower. I think we're close to (if not at) the point where choosing the latter over the former isn't going to stop enough people from pledging to make a significant difference to the outcome of a project, and even if it does the economic benefits of choosing LPCC/EPCC (which I assume is the main reason artists make that choice) might outweigh the decrease in pledges*.

Though I can't really see any reason for not having USPCC as a stretch goal, as this would please some of the aforementioned group of people, and the economic differences between printers get smaller at higher print runs.

*These are, of course, purely my own assumptions based on what I see via this forum, and should not necessarily be taken more serious than the ramblings of any other crazy guy on the street :ugeek:

I know that's my mindset. I much prefer USPCC printed cards, but I won't let who prints them dissuade me if I like the art. In fact, the more I fiddle with the Xmas edition deck, the nicer the handling is IMO and is more than fine for my meager uses at the card table. Were they printed locally in Italy?

Thank you for your kind words, actually the deck is by MPC..

As for USPCC vs "the world" I just can say that I would be happy to work with all of the mayor players in this exciting world, no exceptions :)

Heresy a year ago, now quite improved. They use the same paper stock as many others for their linen finish (310gsm French casino bond).

Yeah I believe that this is my first deck by MPC on their new paper, have to say I'm quite impressed. Really love this deck and looking forward to putting v2 up next to it on my display racks. :D
