Updated for latest from Jody - these will go live on March 3rd on Kickstarter and he's made changes to the structure in breaking it out by doing Innovation separately first. To be printed by LPCC with matte stock with fully embossed tuck and inside/outside foil, plus reveal card.

Some time in 2015, these are just the first 2 in a larger series from Jody (Golden Spike deck) that will feature full featured tucks (foil, embossing, etc). Images from cards in this pair to be posted Jan 5 at http://instagram.com/jodyeklund

I like what I'm seeing so far. Haven't gotten my Golden Spike cards yet, but Jody's work seems to be pretty good.

I really like the tucks. I'm sure the card designs will be just as good. :)

I confess, I'm starting to like unbranded decks more than Bicycle branded decks. :shock: :?

Great first look and if I understand the theme right, then I'm loving it.

First thing that came to my mind when I saw the box: Empire by Lee McKenzie

@NECrOMaNCeD - I'm starting to think Bicycle Branded is $1 more per deck just to know it's made from USPCC. You already have that information on the bottom of the box. Spend that extra dollar on Embossing or Foil on the box. Besides "Bicycle" takes up room for the art of your box.

I'm with NECrOMaNCeD on this one. I love when the Bicycle brand is artfuly intergrated into a beautiful design. Would you buy a Cadillac and remove the hood ornament and all other branding? Of couse not- you want people to know you have a Cadillac.

A lot of decks held their own without Bike logo. My only thing with Bike logos is that they're not all consistent. Some are bigger than others, I like big sized logos than the medium and small ones. When you look at your collection, you'll see them in many different sizes, with and without a border around the logo.

Nail ----> Head

Exactly. And as has been said many times before the logo can take away from the tuck design or add to it. For custom decks USPCC should offer the creator different styles of the logo to choose from that way an artist can decide what works best.

EDIT... My original comment about pigs flying was a Joke about Bikefanatic coming over to the "non-logo" camp, Not about logos themselves.

Don't get me wrong- I love some USPCC decks that don't have the 'Bicycle' logo. I would even go so far as to say some decks would look worse with it. If I were a deck artist (which I could never be so this is very hypothetical), I would always start my tuck design with the logo and go from there. If I thought the design looked better without it, then away it would go. But I guess I just always had a soft spot for the Bike logo.

That really was fascinating, thanks. However, how about instead we not embed a 33mb image inline and link to it instead. ;) While I have 60mb connection my PC needs an upgrade and those images killed the page for me. At least you moved it down to a single image from 3, but it still caused problems. If I'm the only one though, carry on. I might just be a multi-tab junkie and well known 50% of my problem. Although those unfortunate people on slower connections might agree with me.

EDIT - Did you create that yourself? Well done! I may have to pass this one on.

I made it a link instead.
I did create it myself in Adobe ImageReady. Very easy to do because I already have all the deck scans.

I'm glad you enjoy!

But now, back on topic.

Hello again everyone! I see that you have posted my next project. I just want to ask once again for your help. You all were so helpful last time with Golden Spike. You helped make that project what is was. Here are a few updates to the project. First I'm uploading the most current images and hope you can give me some of your best advice. Please let me know what you all think would plus this project and what you HONESTLY :) think. I know you all, and I know you will give me your honest feedback.

Some information updates:
  • I have decided to print with Legends again and not with USPCC. I have a great relationship with Lawrence and he has proven to me that he can deliver a stellar deck.
    I will also be just doing "Innovation" for my next KS launch. I will launch "Devastation" later.
    Lastly, I will launch Innovation when all of the artwork is ready and when Golden Spike rewards have all been shipped.
Thanks everyone!

Man, you caught it! It's amazing how designers are the ones who catch those things. Good job Lorenzo! I actually just switched the spades and the clubs and will be changing that little detail for the final of course.

Those two colored tucks remind me of the Empire Bloodlines tucks. I've seen the KS update of the Unbranded and Black Ink Golden Spike decks and can't wait to get them. You're on to greatness by taking your time to complete one project before starting the next. We're not going anywhere so there's always time to focus on the new deck(s).

I kind of wish the Devastation and Innovation decks were a 2 deck series- Innovation being the white deck and Devastation being the black. But that was a fleeting thought- I guess I was just thinking of my poor wallet for a minute. I can't wait to own all of these!

The Innovation pair was previously announced as being broken out and done first, but he's announced today on KS that it will be live on Mar 3. Updated OP with latest images and link, also updated title.

I'm liking what I see so far, especially embossed and inside/outside foil on the tuck. Atta boy Jody!

SNEAK PEEK!

There is about 3 days left until I launch The Innovation Playing Cards on Kickstarter and I want to give you guys a first look at the page. Please take a look and let me know if I am missing anything. This is mainly a gift for you all. You will be able to go and see which reward you will want ahead of time. Please let me know if there is anything that I am overlooking. Thank you for your time and willingness to help me.

Here is the Link:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/91 ... n=d6f0e225" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have an Early Bird that many of you might like. There is a special signature deck that I am wanting to produce that comes as a 3 pack. The first 50 backers will be able to get in on it. $20 for 3 decks, a companion booklet, and a collector's box (or pack however you see it). The normal price will be $40, so half the price of it's regular pledge tier!

I am posting the pix here of the tier and the box that it all comes in.

Lastly, here is the time that I will be launching on March 3rd: 12:00pm MST (Mountain Standard Time). Again, this is my thanks for all that you have done for me.

Sincerely,
Jody
