Hey everyone,

We are about to launch a new deck design on Kickstarter, and wanted to give you a preview, as well as ask for some final comments and (constructive) criticism. We learned so much from everyone's comments last time on our first successful campaign (see Pocono Modern Playing Cards), and would love some last minute advice from the experts!

*Please note, the watermark is not part of the design.

I would suggest thin white borders on the back design.

I would suggest more dynamic colors than the gray and muted orange theme you have going on. I don't mind a full bleed back design, just keep in mind the back won't match with the color of the face of the cards, and that might be an issue for some (primarily magicians). I really like your pips and stylized court cards. I'd like to see your other aces, especially the Ace of Spades (which should be the most decked out ace in the deck).

I really, really dig your retro style guys! I'm ok with the orange cards but the grey definitely could be a different color. Like a cream color perhaps?

If you're going to have white borders on the faces then you need to have white borders on the backs, otherwise it doesn't make much sense.

I like the Orange and Grey a lot. It's very striking, but I agree that the grey could take a hike if it had to. A teal color would compliment it well, but I like the grey.

I like the card faces a lot, they're interesting while being simple and clean. Indices are great as well. :) I'm not really fond of the back design that much even with a thin border. I don't think it reflects the deck very well other than the color choice. Feel, meh, to me. Maybe cooler if the design repeated a bit more, or a bit less.

Shouldn't this be in the "Custom Deck Drafting Board" section of the forum?

I'm leaning towards not really. It's in release candidate phase. Ready to launch. Unless some showstopping changes forces them back to the drawing board, this one is good to go according to them.

What's the name of the deck guys and when are you planning to launch?

Definitely push the indices towards the edge more.

The deck has a Polaris vibe to it. I would recommend that the custom pips not be so close to each other and the one way back could be acceptable.

I usually don't like minimalistic courts but I think these mesh well witht the rest of the deck. +1 on white borders all around- pretty please, whatever you do, make the front and back border colors match!

Everything else about this deck is great! Except the back.. not quite sure I'm feeling the back.

Agree with some others, the gray drags it down. I'd drop it. Have you considered a second color for the black suits such a a deep teal? Could give you color throughout the deck.

Loved the Pocono modern deck look and this one is a worthy succesor. I'll be backing assuming pricing is reasonable.

Agree the grey doesn't fit as well as the orange and the back needs to go back to the drawing board. It doesn't fit with the rest of the look as well and isn't as interesting as the rest either. Also the King looks too medieval royalty while the Jack/Queen have more of a 1960s/70s look that fits the deck.

Overall though I love this retro theme! I like this quite a bit more than the Pocono deck and those pips remind me of some of the old stores I saw growing up. Which even that many years ago were horribly outdated and well past their time. Interesting that a modern take on them makes them retro cool now!

Deck has a name now, The Retro Deck. Launching today around 4PM EST. Looks like the colors are staying. Not bad I have to say. I prefer the white deck but they look nice together. :)

Other than not being Bicycle-branded, I love it. I'm definitely in for both decks.

Pledge levels are a little strange towards to upper tiers. Dont quite like the box as well, the rest are pretty good !

The back got re-worked and I guess is better, but isn't a huge draw for me. The retro style is so well done I'll be in though. I'm torn between the colored and white backgrounds as well, the white seems to pop more, but the colored ones have a greater retro feel.

I felt the same way. But the longer I'm on the fence, the more inclined I am to buy both. I say bravo to the creator for not just making two decks with color variations but two good decks with color variations.

Hmmm so buying 12 decks is more expensive then buying 10 decks?
Prices are a bit high when int. shipping is applied. I´m better off when buying various decks from one reseller and save a lot on shipping&Customs.Sad but true.

Very strange pledge levels. The goal if you want 3 or 22 decks would be to snag an early bird and add decks at $10 a pop, rather than taking a higher pledge level. Even if I miss an EB and shell out $12 for one deck and add on 11 more, I'm at $122 for a brick of whatever colors I want. While that's cool, it's not exactly up selling the pledge tiers.

You'll be swamped with msgs when the tier pledges are more expensive than adding on decks. I think if you're going to run it that way, make the higher pledges at $10 a deck or better. Adds incentive for a higher tier pledge.

The card backs are cool, but I think I'd like to see them different per deck as your faces are. Less color on the white decks back, may be as easy as removing the light grey or it may be removing the dominant color from most of the squares. I think it'd look cool. Also on the white deck, may consider using the opposing jokers color for the ruffle on the collars.

Every card in the deck has indices set in from the border. I think it couldn't hurt to move them out a little so they're more accessible in front fans.

I really like the way they look now. I'm going to wait for resellers though.

Thanks for the heads up. I was able to get one of those sweet spot EB's. :) EB + Add-on prices = Nice. :D

You'll also note that the single deck EB + add on deck is the same as 2 deck EB. Not sure why 4 people so far decided to go the tier route and pay $2 more... ;) Same for the 3 on the 2 deck and coin package. Take those EBs while you can people!

I went with single deck EB and will consider which color to get and perhaps add the other later. Single deck EB is the way to go I think.

Why wouldn't buying 12 decks cost more than 10 decks???

10 mix/match is $100 ($10 each), but 12 mix/match is $130 ($10.83 each). Oddly you should be able to simply get the 10 and then add 2 for $120. Yeah, that's messed up.
