The Games Thread
After a quick search, I couldn't find a thread about gaming... which is ridiculous lol.
I hope this is a thread where we can invite gaming discussion, and find other people to game with
Video Games
Playing: Hearthstone, The Wolf Among Us
Looking for people to play with: Borderlands 2 (PC), Torchlight 2 (PC)
Want to play: Transistor, The Walking Dead S2
Board Games
Playing: Nothing
Looking for people to play with (locally, Vancouver BC): Dominion, 7 Wonders
Want to play: Android Netrunner (I used to play)
Here's my Battle.net, if anyone wants to play Hearthstone together: Godzillian#1856
Feel free to add me on Steam: MrHikikomori
PM me if any of you want to game together we can Skype and such.

Re: Games and Gaming and Boardgaming
I can't seem to find time anymore for video games, maybe when all my major house projects are done it will happen. Although, somehow I seem to have switched to (re)discover board games.

Yeah, I have a few friends who boardgame together occasionally. I just thought it'd be interesting to meet up with people who have similar interests in multiple things, and not just 1 thing.ecNate wrote:I can't seem to find time anymore for video games, maybe when all my major house projects are done it will happen. Re: Games and Gaming and Boardgaming
I'm more of a lone wolf kind of gamer. Used to play Call of Duty but got tired of hearing the many ways I enjoy eating male genitalia from shrill teenagers. I occasionally play Rainbow Six Vegas though.
Currently playing Saint's Row IV and finishing up on The Last of Us DLC and Arkham Origins. PS3
I'm a pretty big iPad gamer as well. Tons of little arcade games, Sims, platformers, RPGs in there. The biggest ones however are Walking Dead season 1 and 2, Wolf Among Us and Republique.
Only board game i play is checkers.

Re: Games and Gaming and Boardgaming
I'm the same - if there isn't a decent single play campaign count me out.
Currently playing nothing (though I did just buy the Baldurs Gate redux)
I want watchdogs, Second Son, and Assassins Creed: Unity; will likely use Assassins creed to justify the PS4 purchase!
Most recently I played GTAV and AC:IV Black Flag to death.
Board games: Chess and Scrabble sporadically. Used to play a bit or Warhammer 40K about 20 years ago... PLus the obligatory Xmas monopoly.

Video Games
Playing: Puzzle Quest, Plants Vs Zombies
Used to play: Unreal Tournament, Zuma, Qix
Want to play: Unreal Tournament - the computer I used to play it on died and the OS on my newer computer doesn't support it.
Card Games
Playing: Hanafuda, Idle Year (Hanafuda by video game since the people I play it with are far away now)
Used to play: Crib - the competitive Rig Pig type
Want to play: Gloom, 2 x 6
I'll be learning chess this summer when I visit with family.

Re: Games and Gaming and Boardgaming
Haha yeah. Usually games with focus on multiplayer I let go very easily. Finish SP and trade in or sell. My favorites are the open worlds, hands down. I've clocked in like 500 hours on Skyrim alone. Fallout 3 probably has around 600. Same with Oblivion and New Vegas. Arkham Asylum/City/Origins too. I've poured hundreds of hours in the Saints Rows and GTAs as well. But I favor the Saints though because they're just insane and hilarious. They don't take themselves as seriously as Rockstar and their GTAs. Still great games all of them.

I play borderlands 2 occasionally. I'd like to play boardgames but I haven't found the perfect one and I'm often unsure if I'll have time or anyone to play with in the future. What I do miss though, are card games and mahjong.

You're a tile clicker eh Yashi? I used to live in the same block as a Mahjong parlour and the sound was incredible. I loved that sound.
I would like to learn the game but the variety of tiles is daunting.
Saints Row sounds interesting Eoghann. I'll have to check it out.

Lol, this thread's about anything related to games, which includes card games. I just didn't mention it in my OP because I don't play many card games, besides Big 2 and Crazy 8s!dazzleguts wrote:You're a tile clicker eh Yashi? Re: Games and Gaming and Boardgaming
My laptop is currently in for repairs, right now I'm using one that can barely handle flash games.
Video Games
Playing: Star Wars - The Old Republic, Marvel's Avengers Alliance (facebook), Marvel Puzzle Quest (android)
Want to play: Watchdogs, GTA V (PC)
Have played a bit of everything, I'm also a fan of open world stuff. Shouldn't Fallout 4 be out by now?
Playing SW:TOR, which is a decent replacement for Knights of the Old Republic 3, I suppose. The first 2 KotOR games were awesome SP RPGs. My first MMO was a little game called Spiral Knights, and I've liked online games since then. I guess I just like the publicity, the fact that you can show off your achievements and stuff Definitely has to be optional multiplayer though, I need to be able to play by myself if I want/need to. TOR does well there, with lots of story missions.

I can't wait for fall out 4. I waited a long time to play Vegas, so I had a fix last year. Roll on Elder Scrolls VI too!
I played Skyrim till my character was invincible then whipped through the story. Somehow never encountered deadric armour..

Re: Games and Gaming and Boardgaming
The only reason I'm forced to stop playing Bethesda games eventually is because I'm extremely thorough. I search every nook and cranny for every single rare item. The save file gets massive and the game ceases to load or crashes. It's my PS3's way of telling me "ok buddy, that's enough"
Kinda makes me wish someone could help me build a sweet gaming computer. Never been much of a PC player. Unless you count flash games and my trusty floppy disk with Bio Menace and Commander Keen I used to carry around at all times in my teens.

Re: Games and Gaming and Boardgaming
It does sound great when shuffling the tiles. It's quite simple actually. It's very similar to a game called "Gin Rummy" (or at least I think that's what it's called) except with 4 players and a bit more extra rules. The tiles do look overwhelming at first but it's really simple. There are actually only 3 "suits".dazzleguts wrote:You're a tile clicker eh Yashi? Re: Games and Gaming and Boardgaming
You give me hope. I may just find a print out set and see if I can learn it solitaire. If it catches in the brainpan I can look for an actual set of tiles.

Ha! I could indeed! It is my art. Where do you live Eoghann?
PC games: Unreal, Unreal Tournament, UT 2K4, TF2, Battlefield 1942, 2, Bad Company 2, 3 and 4. (BF4 and card collecting is what caused me to retire from Multiplayer FPS)
Almost any and all card games. I especially like poker (duh!), spades, hearts, bridge, Rummy and Canasta.

Re: The Games Thread
Hah, I'm in New York.
I haven't the slightest clue on how to even start building a gaming rig. Just every time I see someone showing off some ridiculous Skyrim mods that make the game hyper realistic I just get green with envy. While I'm stuck with the PS3 version that gets more pixelated and crashy the bigger the game save gets, they're running silky smooth, gorgeous games.
Years ago I used to play the Sims and spend days just swapping and making my own textures in order to customize the entire world. It was a great time.
I did that for a few years during my PSP phase as well. Ripping games, extracting textures and injecting modded ones just so I could play as Super Mario in GTA was awesome. Good times.

Do you build into an existing game casing?
Would you mind telling me what you run your UT on? The system I used to play it on died.

Re: The Games Thread
I really haven't played video games in quite a while,
I used to play a ton of Rainbox Six and Halo online with the original XBOX.. I told you... It's been a while.
I play a lot of cards, especially poker. But I also play hearts, crib, euchre quite often.
My friends and I play one card game more than any other: Cards Against Humanity.
This was a Kickstarter project that has quite the following. Not for the easily offended.
There is a host for the round, who will grab/read one of the question cards (black card) out loud.
Then all the other players pass him one of their answer cards out of their hand... that they think the host will like the most.
Some of the cards are EXTREMELY VULGAR... and that's what makes it so fun Vulgar example: http://bit.ly/1qSWzbl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This game can be downloaded for free (or buy the game) from their website: http://www.cardsagainsthumanity.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyone getting a PS4 or Xbox One? I'd probably go for the PS4 because of its architecture - more indie PC games will make it to PS4 than Xbox One. Maybe when I transition to my new job and get my first paycheck...

I'm very content with my PS3 slim and it's working flawlessly. But when it finally dies, I'm going for the PS4 definitely.
