Do traditional court art files exist in public domain?
So while many designers clearly go all custom there are so many printers and even some designers that use the classic courts that I can't imagine they recreate from scratch. Is there a repository of public domain art that anybody can use for deck design as a starting point? I'm not very serious about personally doing this, more just curiosity. Perhaps this may help some designers start experimenting with options a bit easier though too.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I was imagining was out there. With so many courts looking almost identical it seems like there must be a central source someplace. I would imagine there are more, possibly ones that are recreated and resold to various outlets for printing rights too I suppose.ryzellon wrote:I wouldn't call it a "repository," but here's some vector graphics (SVG and EPS).
Thanks, but that looks to be just blank template files for tuckbox and cards for their printing specs. Still helpful, but not quite what I was wondering and looking for since I was looking for the 'faces' as you say. Unless somehow I misunderstood your instructions.sprouts1115 wrote:Go here: http://www.bicyclecards.com/custom-playing-cards

I think as with videos and photos if the copyright runs out mostly really old stuff even paintings that it is public domain just because the design of the playing card has not changed much over time the more recent designs could be owned by the company that produces that deck.
