oooo! is the foil underneath the finish of the cards, or just overlaid your original back design? Are these the original USPCC cards or a new print run with someone else? sorry for all the ?s just very interested.

No problem JacksonJacksonRobinson wrote:oooo! is the foil underneath the finish of the cards, or just overlaid your original back design? Are these the original USPCC cards or a new print run with someone else? sorry for all the ?s just very interested.
The foil will probably be over the finish. I prefer it to be under but I don't know how it will react. If my printer assures me that it's safe I'll do it.
This is not the USPCC deck. It's a new print of 200 decks and a completely new tuck.

As I've stated elsewhere many times before: I like shiny. And this is shiny.
(I first got hooked on shiny when I picked up some cards in Moscow that were printed with gold leaf. Mmmmm. Gold leaf....)
I'm in for two.
When/where/how will the sales be handled?

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes part 2
They look nice indeed!
Question : How long will this foil last when the cards will be handled in example during a game of poker (shuffling, dealing) or cardistry (flourishes like fans, cuts spreads etc.).
Has this method of foiling a entire "card back" been road tested?
Those questions popped up into my mind instantly when i saw the pictures.
Thanks in advance!

Nice work! I don't think I would use these for a normal game of poker. Maybe if the President of the United States came by for poker night.

I wouldn't use this deck for games or cardistry. It would be a collector item only. Not sure what reason you'd have to use a $100 deck of cards.cosmicsecret wrote:They look nice indeed!

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes part 2
Mikey likes it! As I said long ago when I first started teasing these: "what's bright and shiny but dark at the same time?". What have you been told can't be done? (foiled backs and not just a little, but basically full tilt) As always, any time you tell Lotrek that it can't be done - he considers that a challenge, and as I knew when I first started tormenting everyone: he did it! As others have said: bravo, buddy, a BIG bravo! I couldn't be more pleased to see you do it first, and not just do it barely but do it right! Superb craftmanship and I can't wait to see your newest baby in my hands, these are truly an epic and groundbreaking departure from what's been done in the past! (and announced on June 1st for late June: who would have guessed?)

Well there are people who use jerry nuggets for cardistry and those decks go way beyond $100.Cbkimble wrote:I wouldn't use this deck for games or cardistry. It would be a collector item only. Not sure what reason you'd have to use a $100 deck of cards.cosmicsecret wrote:They look nice indeed!

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes part 2
Can't really compare these to JNuggs. There will be 200 of these, while JNuggs are a dime a dozen (only reason they're rare and expensive is because they were hyped up and the people owning most of them have been sitting on the stash and only trickling a few out into the market every now and then).cosmicsecret wrote:Well there are people who use jerry nuggets for cardistry and those decks go way beyond $100.Cbkimble wrote:I wouldn't use this deck for games or cardistry. Regardless of how much these cost, I'll correct Cbkimble's statement to: "Not sure what reason you'd have to use a 1/200 deck of cards."

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes part 2
I agree that it would be unusual for someone to take a very rare item like this and put it to use... call it foolish if you want. However, stranger things have happened!MagikFingerz wrote:Can't really compare these to JNuggs. I also don't believe that CS would actually use this deck for poker, but it's certainly his right, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to know a little bit more about something unknown before you buy it, no matter the cost or the availability.
I, too, am wondering if Lotrek can give us any idea of the longevity of the foil on the back. After all... there's a reason "they said it couldn't be done".
Clearly, if you never take the deck out of the package it doesn't matter how long the foil lasts. Hell, for that matter, it doesn't matter if the foil is even on the cards, or the cards are even in the box!!!
EDIT: Btw, if the answer is "nobody knows", because there hasn't been time to test them, or a test deck was too expensive to make, or whatever... that's just fine. It still doesn't hurt to ask!
Keep it Sizzlin'!

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes part 2
Yeah, I don't think the JNuggs comparison works because they're also coveted by cardists because they handle well, right? So that's their primary purpose. This decks' purpose is design, and aimed more at collectors than cardists or even regular poker players.
However, I do agree with th4mo that cosmicsecret has every right to do whatever he pleases with his deck, so it would be useful to know how long the foil lasts. If it's possible to put the finish over the foil, that would be ideal, as it may be able to protect the foil from flaking.
Also, this deck won't come sealed, so collectors can take it out once in a while to enjoy. There is a separate seal you can put on, if you'd like.

I like to think Lotrek in all his artistic wisdom, reverse engineered an old school credit card imprinter to tediously foil each card.
