Wonder why the seal says "Giant Killer".

Not to be a Debbie downer, but these seem like a fairly big step down from the original series. Maybe these are more staple-type decks that will be printed in larger quantites and be sold on the Kings Wild website?
I would have no problems with that btw, it would be a good way to keep the Fed 52 series "alive" without jeopardizing the rarity of the originals.

I don't think it's a step down. More like a player friendly deck with them tig ol' pips and indices.

Yeah it would be great as a staple deck

Yikes! All that negative space is just... weird!

While I like the non-linear borders, I have to agree the negative space makes the design look cheap and incomplete. The court card is especially bad, it looks like Washington's head was photo-shopped onto a king's body. It almost seems this is a knock-off of the Fed52 from someone else who wasn't inclined to put in the effort. All the previous design concepts of potential future decks Jackson has ever revealed to us (King's Wild Signature Series, Tally Ho New Circle Back) got me excited and eager to see them come to fruition, but these have me shaking my head...

After looking at that preview image...and looking at it for another minute...yeah it doesn´t make me grab my wallet for a instabuy.
As sinjin7 and magikfingerz have pointed out - it looks not on par with the first Fed52 series, maybe on purpose and it goes like a $5.95 stock deck.
George Washington looks like a recycled version of the Fed52 Artwork...thats my first impression.

Yeh...not sure about this one. Which is a shame unless he's thinking of mass producing it. Then again, I wouldn't be inclined to call it 2nd Edition if it was to serve the purpose of a stock deck.

You're not supposed to notice...
Semantics, I suppose, but isn't this the "3rd edition"?

I like the idea more than the execution (based only on this picture.) I love the cards from the previous Federal 52, but this preview doesn't evoke the same emotions, or willingness to buy like the other ones did. I would love for a more aggressive price point, keep the designs exactly the same and put a different back design. Call it the next version and watch the money roll in. The bar was so high the first two times around, but this incarnation isn't to my taste. Hopefully it was just a "test" preview.
I'd love to see the previous Federal 52 cards with the Tally-Ho back design Jackson was showing on his Facebook page.

no it would be 2nd Edition, and the Federal decks previously were part 1 and 2, not a new edition.
so this would be Series 2, also the artwork in part 1 and 2 are very similar, similar designs.
Series 2 this new series looks like a completely different design.

Seems like that Jackson has rised the bar so high that everything that he put out if it isn't top notch everyone will point some flaws!
But I'm also with the majority, it seems that he hasn't put all his creative process in this one! Althogh there's something that I really like in this, the fact that he has incorporated some of the back design artwork on the faces, I always imagined a deck that can have this feature, it can allow magicians to do some nice and crazy stuff!! A big A+++ for this, hope he stick with this, and just rework some of the points already mentioned by other users!

Always good constructive crits, no problem scratchin the design. I have three times as many scrapped designs than I do used ones. I had been fooling around with this new rough concept the past couple of days.
We would have a whole lot more good designs in this world if people would air out more of their not so good designs.

It's like all the Dominos commercials- failure is an option.

The perfect attitude to have! I hope you continue to try some more concepts out. Is there an Army deck in the works? That was teased a while ago...

Well said but is this going to be a staple deck?

Probably not. I wouldn't even feel good about putting out a "staple" deck unless it was my best. This was a simple concept that I roughed out last night. Even if I continued with this direction it would change.

I was about to dive into my accounts to work out if I could afford another display box lol
Interesting concept - but as the others say the intricacy juxtaposed with the big chunky white-space doesn't quite gel. Keep 'em coming though

Jackson i think the question wasnt specific to THIS design, but rather are there plans for a fed 52 staple deck ?

Or any staple decks, for that matter (apart from the one we know about, the KW logo one)?

Don't underestimate the power if resting / negative space. I'm shooting for my tally ho deck to be my first staple deck.

I actually like this design and the use of negative space. It's a bit easier on the eyes. The back design (and overall design) of the 1st Edition is so gorgeous it can hardly be topped, but these cards are really nice. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it, and I've already decided to back it. The only thing I'm not sure about is the pip design. It's a bit large for my taste.
