Oh boy, here we go... let me be the first to question it- licensing issues??

Not to mention, too "novelty" for me.

These guys secured licensing for The Princess Bride, so my guess is they are aware that there would be licensing issues and have successfully pursued them.

Has the Goonies been as enduring a cultural classic as Princess Bride?

(I've never seen it, frankly, whereas I've pretty much memorized Princess Bride. No more rhymes now, I mean it!)

No, the Goonies do NOT want a peanut. I would say cult classic, but in a different way. The Truffle Shuffle is the best part. And Sloth

We were fortunate enough to already have locked in the license before they announced a sequel. We hope there is not only revived interest from that announcement, but support from the 2.9 million The Goonies fans on Facebook.

I'm also not usually into such novelty styles, but this one may be the rare exception. Looking forward to seeing more. Good luck.

Oh it's Albino Dragon, they will fund 100% guaranteed. I just hope they package these better, two pieces of bubble wrap wasn't enough for 8 decks I got with Name of the Wind.

Don't give them more ideas, let them try to come up with their own like everyone else. Will this be Kickstarter? Surely a company like yours no longer needs Kickstarter to fund decks?

We don't have any shortage of ideas Victor, but I'm sure you won't like most of them. And don't call me Shirley.

Erm well, I'm still waiting for my name of the wind pledge, and these guys had 2 ks projects after that ? And this is their third ? Can't you fulfill your rewards first, and not have a 3 project backlog ?

We sent the last package for NotW about 2 weeks ago so please send us a message on Kickstarter so we can look at your account. Princess Bride is shipping out next week and The Goonies will have about a 3-4 month turnaround once it launches. We have so many projects lined up, I think it's safe to assume we will always have 2-3 in rotation from here on out due to the nature of serial processing.

I just got mine last week (NOTW) and it took 3 weeks from the time I got the shipping notice (to the UK) so it does take a while. My biggest complaint was the packaging was particularly poor and I was lucky in that only one of my decks was damaged.

Well ive gotten my shipping notification on Mar 18, waited a full month without any notice, contacted them, only then did i find out they had some shipping error. 3 weeks later im still waiting, I followed up on this with Eric, and we shall see what happens from here.

I know it was a large project, but its been 11 months since funding and i only ordered decks, an estimated half a year late.

There is absolutely no reason why you guys need to use Kickstarter anymore, you are pretty well established by now, are you not? But if you want Kickstarter, Amazon, and Pledgemanager or whoever, to take some of your profits, then so be it. I just think you would be better off trying to go it alone instead of relying on Kickstarter since you aren't a new company any more and have been very successful thus far. Even Kings Wild and Encarded don't use Kickstarter for everything, same with a couple other companies, just saying, not trying to start anything.

That's all you ever do is try to start conflict Victor. Enough is enough, seriously.

I´m also eagerly waiting for my 3 deck order of NOTW - i will give it 2 more weeks since customs can delay the delivery.
As a international collector i´m used to long shipping/delivery times so be patient ;)

I'm not trying to start a conflict, I'm trying to realistic if anything and was merely trying to offer a suggestion. Is there anything wrong with offering suggestions and ideas on this forum? Is there anything wrong with thinking outside the box and moving away from Kickstarter? Are people afraid to try it on their own without kickstarter?

I think a lot of creators don't steer away from Kickstarter is the simple fact that Kickstarter does help pay for the initial order of their product. It's not like all these are large company and it's hard to fork over $10K or more for a single print run of playing cards not including other fees (ie. artist/design fees). No one really gets rich off of Kickstarter and what Kickstarter does is give more creators stock after fulfilment to sell at a price where they can get some profit. There is always ups and downs to everything include Kickstarter. I can't speak for these companies, but I will admit I'd be screwed to throw down that much money in hopes of making it back. There's never any guarantee that since you've sold once you'll sell well again.

I just find it amusing that you choose the project to make the comment on, there are several other companies/designers who continue to use Kickstarter even they they don't "need" to. You are assuming Kickstarter is being utilized for its stated purpose. For quite a while now it has acted as a pre-order store front, and any business would be foolish not to take advantage whilst they can. I don't necessarily agree with it but it's happening. The only good news is that with the start of the legal battle around Asylum we might see that consumers will actually get some protection.

Regarding the "conflict" comment, I think it comes from your confrontational tone. You might just want to re-read before you write something to see if it's really getting across your intention.

Yes sometimes my tones get out of line, I apologize.

You are right it is turning into a pre-order store front. But from what I can tell Albino Dragon has made at least half a million on their projects, maybe more. Even factoring in all of their expenses they must have been some decent profits in there somewhere, surely enough to fund or partially fund a deck.

I guess, when it comes down to it, being established on KS gets you exposure - the KS/Amazon overheads may well be worth it even though you could save them be going it alone.

I'll tell you what Victor, I'll write a whole blog post explaining why we still use Kickstarter when The Goonies finishes up. That project should give me some good pie charts to use. Thanks for the idea!
