I love a good mystery! It's always fun to know when someone is getting ready to set the Playing Cards world on fire!

Doo tee doo tee doo... Secrecy - Balognia Docet Mundum, well, close enough.

(Something) shows the world? Don't know what the first word is, gotta brush up on that Latin. When do we get to know what you do?

you're dropping little hints all over the place, Mike. Are you alluding to Requiem shipping, a new secret of Heretics, or something even more sinister? In any case, I too love a good mystery. Count me in

Well, Balognia is in Italy, Docet is Latin for "rules'so 'rules the world. Close enough.

First real clue: it's bright and shiny and dark at the same time.

Bologna is beautiful but I "feel" that Mike is referring to something coming from Venice...

He wasn't talking about sandwich meats ruling the world? Aw shucks.

On a more serious note, I know it's too early to show us teaser pics, and Mike Whiplash isn't even close to done wringing his hands and twirling his mustache...

Please give us something to whet our appetite. :)
That teaser the other day makes me imagine all sorts of wonderful things!

Well, the only thing I can say at the moment is that it's something never seen before. I'm still at the production planning stage, so teaser pics will come much later. But I'm totally excited about it. :ugdance:

Venexiana: Dark
Venexiana: After Hours
Venexiana: Midnight Serenade
Venexiana: From Dusk Till Dawn
Venexiana: Mezzanotte
Venexiana: After Dark

Venexiana: Live Fast, Die Young Reloaded part II

Just spitballing what names would befit such an epic and highly anticipated sequel. :)

The name of the upcoming deck is no secret and it's pretty simple: Venexiana Dark. (sounds a bit like a female name, eh?)

But here we're not talking at all about the dark edition, which could not by itself justify this thread...

Gasp! It's the top secret deck isn't it? I thought it was the Venexiana Dark thread considering it's impending launch.

Brace yourselves people, this will be Lotrek's Magnum Opus!

Eoghann, is there more information on this buried in other threads?

Nope. He mentioned a very important deck he was working on when asking him "so what now after the successful Grotesque campaign". But that's it. Don't know any more details.

I was going to torture everyone even more and let it linger in your nightmares, but - everybody seems to have quickly narrowed it down considerably.

Let's go with another direction, then: what is something that can't be done that you would love to see in your hands some time pretty darned soon? I've already given a single clue that combined with this "check check" box marked off that it is now a game of "what the h**** is it" (that will both set a new precedent, set the world of playing cards on its heels and on fire, etc)?? I know that I've asked why this couldn't be done before, and it's always "because we can't do that", but - think about it. If there was one thing that (as a connoisseur collector) you would absolutely have no other choice but to turn off the old ticker or jump?

Lotrek has already announced that "Dark Venexiana" was on the horizon - and obviously not far away, but that in itself is just a piece of the puzzle. He's already done this in the UC2014/Grotesque project for us: something that everybody said couldn't be done - by using his old world craftsmanship to create those absolutely divine Signature Edition hand-foiled tucks that every single item is distinct and impossible for another to exist that is precisely the same.

Ok the mind boggles - hand crafted cards? Cut / inked by hand?

^ This - I've seen foiled cards, and I've seen high quality cards - but never at the same time!

It's a deck that comes with a "free" round-trip ticket to pick it up in person in Bella Italia!

But we can only do so next year, after dark, in Piazza San Marco, while sipping caffè and listening to music in front of Caffè Florian, during Carnivale!

And I haven't wandered through Venezia since 1996, so I am ready to return!

Nope, nope - that has obviously been done before, since before we had Heidelberg presses and the like (which are used to make a LOT more things than just playing cards, obliviously). You had to hand-ink just about anything starting with the Gutenberg Bible, amongst others.

Certainly sounds intreging and would definitely make a statement, and we're starting to eliminate some of the good candidates, but . . .
montecarlojoe wrote:^ This - I've seen foiled cards, and I've seen high quality cards - but never at the same time!
True, I've observed precisely the same thing, that those two can't co-exist with one another: not good quality ("Q1" I suppose or equivalent?). I know I'd pay good money to see that one done correctly and again, it IS something that I've been told by more than one "old school" card expert and manufacturer that it cannot be done.
Eoghann wrote:Could it be true?
I wish! Like I said, I thought I had seen it before but the mind (apparently) is slower than the eyes, so I guess so eventually, but not yet.

We're starting to get some really good potential winners, but not getting hot just yet. I'm going to be closely watching, so if somebody hits it square between the eyes, I will declare them the winner of this mystery (and maybe even include a copy - they're not mine, so I can't give away Lotrek's goodies).

Lotrek found a printer in Greece that can reproduce the Jerry's Nuggets process?!?!

If we're talking about impossible, you can't get higher that that. :)
