I'll be in for a red deck!
Edit: The leather card holder looks really nice too, I may just go up to that level...

These look interesting. I wish they had just a little more of that vintage feel to them. Not that they don't, just not enough for my liking.

Looking great! I just realized though that maybe this needs an artbook since we aren't or I'm not familiar with the people on the court cards. I'm in for one of each at the least. I've seen PRM's store and he does some amazing art.

I really like this! Something about this color combination. I like the shade of blue and red. I hope it looks just as good in person as it does on the screen! Anyway, probably will be pledging for at least one of each. Maybe the logbook, too...

An art book is definitely in the plans, we'll see if things go that way!

It's three Kickstarter projects coming out three days in a row. I will be backing this one, one of each deck!

Nevermind. Feb 23rd Bicycle Plugged Nickel Set. Feb 24th these decks. Feb 28th Bicycle Wiretap, I thought it was originally on the 25th because I'm off Tuesday but these still all come out on same week.

Very Nice PRM!!!
I like the changes you made to the backs... and i think you are going to rock on KS.
The only problem might be that a lot of us just dropped a large chunk of change on Randy's new White Ornates...

Wow, two decks in a row that have shunned the Early Bird offers...
This beautiful deck should be "Flying" right now... but it seems to me the launch has been somewhat muted.
EB's get a project moving with a TON of momentum, which i believe really influences the later stages of the campaign.
I'm surprised more project creators aren't on board with this. It's the only reason i can think of for why this project is getting a slower start.
Well, not the only reason... Are backers just too broke from the previous projects? Or saving their money for some of the big releases coming up?

When I get to a launch on time, either there's no early birds or when I do get one it's at least $10 (I wanna $1-$7 deal).

No matter the price if it's a deck I want, I'll get it. I think 2 decks anywhere $18-$24 is a good deal. . . . And for 4 decks $40-$45. The good thing for the creator not having an early bird is that it'll be a little more money contributed to the project to get funded.

I know I'm taking stock and not being quite as liberal with backings / purchases as before. But I also wonder if the glamour of a new hobby has worn off on the not so enthusiastic / longterm collectors. Another thing I've noticed is the price for a single deck has been increasing over the last few months. It used to be $8 was regular for a kickstarter deck, now $12+ is the norm. That can really affect the billfold in the long run. I did pledge for this one, but only one of each where as I used to be wanting to go for 2-3 of each variation at least.
Not to mention we've had Origins, Requiem and others end recently and we have Jackson's Army deck coming up in a few weeks (plus I'm hoping to get in on the Grotesque signature deck). So yeah, there's a lot of money floating around in the card world right now and for me personally I think I need to start picking and choosing a bit more than before. Heck, the idea has even been floating around in my mind to unload some of my duplicates, but I'm torn on whether I should strike now or wait as an investment.

I think th4mo is right about the EB's. Whenever I see a new project without them, I just simply take a step back and wait for at least a few days before pledging (if I at that point decide I like them) and I'm sure a lot of others do the same.
And I'm pretty sure the amount of projects (and good ones at that) has an impact on average Joe Pledger's budget as well. As chach, I also am much more selective with my pledges and purchases, which is probably a natural evolution of any collector over time.

Fairly certain that's what's happening. The zeal to snatch every deck that gets in ones path is wearing off. Realizing we are increasingly strapped for cash or that we have amassed so many decks we don't know what to do with them...only to then realize some decks you just don't like that much.

I am literally running out of space! Will say, so many good decks have come out in the past year there are many projects I would have bought heavy now I just by two and the really good stuff gets my wallet's affection.

Had an awesome interview with Paul. Really insightful seeing that he's created 3 other projects on KS before the Flight deck.

Enjoyed that Ivan, thank you very much. Paul obviously knows what he's doing and he's done a jam up job on the decks!

i'm a huge fan of this deck, but magikfingers is right about the early birds. Even if the break is only a buck, people are motivated when they see "51 of 100 left." I mean think about it ... you can pay $23 ... or $22. Which would you prefer?
If there's no early bird and I'm not in absolute love with a deck, I will always hold off. There's no incentive at all to decide now ... vs 28 days from now. Of course 27 days from now I've forgotten about the deck completely. And if there are 100 others like me on the waiting for later track, guess what ... the deck looks like it isn't getting funded.
Honestly, a smart KS project creator would price the entire campaign as Early Birds, and if the project gets funded then thr price goes up to retail. A great reward for the people who backed you before you got funded, and nobody is gonna whine that there are too many early birds.
...
Of course, all that said ... I am in absolute love with this deck and pledged before scrolling to the bottom of the page.
Wow.

I find this to be a really intriguing idea!

I wonder if anyone will have the balls to try this out?

Yup. Same here... getting more picky. I do like this more than average, and I'm seriously considering it (I like the logbooks, too), but the ratio of really awesome decks to the amount of money I can spend is exponentially high, and I promised to only pledge for decks that I absolutely must have.

Only a few months ago, I probably would have pledged for these right away, but now the "must-have-every-deck-released" mentality is gone. Also, I just remembered Jackson's Army Deck is coming out in March so I need to save up and have enough money by the time that campaign ends. After that, I believe his Air Force one will soon follow, and that one I'm considering on getting multiple bricks.

It's true that people are paying attention to the collectible playing card audience. Once people are paying attention, then you get a lot of great decks and a lot of not so great decks created by people who just see it as a chance to make a few bucks. It's up to everyone here to decide which decks make it and which decks don't. That's the great thing about Kickstarter. I was actually talking to Jackson on the phone before I launched my project and I asked him how he felt about the influx of decks being funded. It was in a week where at least five new decks launched, most of them terrible. He said he thought it was great, the more decks that try to get funding, the easier it will be to tell the good from the bad. I would love to make more decks. I have a couple great ideas lined up. Ideas with good themes, good design, and great extras. I hope I get a chance to make them. If the Flight Deck makes it's funding then I might make another deck. It will take a while for the dust to clear to see if it is something worth doing again. But there is a point if I can blow past funding that it will be definitely worth it and I would start on a new deck right away. I'm glad I'm getting the chance to put this set of decks before you guys at least!

I feel like this sums up the collectable playing card business on kickstarter since it started 2-3 years ago.
Paul, I would love to see you make more decks. But don't feel like you need to rush them out to take advantage of the traction from your first deck. One of the big faux pas' collectors react to when it comes to repeat project creators is launching a new deck long before the previous campaign is even close to fulfillment. That overeagerness signals either greed or impatience (or both), which means that the main focus is not on the finished product nor on customer satisfaction.
I have a feeling you might know this already, but there's enough people out there who don't to justify posting it
