My feeling is that they are going to miss Shane ...

As much as I like the movie, this seems like too much of a money grab to me. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the way Shane was let go. The price increase on this deck isn't helping.

PHEW I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA HAVE TO PRINT CASH AGAIN.
And we see the fall of albino dragon. That being said, this would probably still fund pretty well, they have much too big a following, but I'd say save up for Holmes and uusi my dear friends.

I still like their White Rabbit deck the most. While this is a popular franchise and I enjoyed the movie, it doesn't really grab me. And as Volantangel mentioned, there are some other very nice decks coming down the line on KS.
Wish them luck with the project though.

Agreed - love The Princess Bride - not loving this deck. Thought it would be a tough decision, but it's an easy pass.

Was out of the game for a little bit, is there more to the story of Shane's departure from Albino Dragon?
I know the ks update said he was worth more money than they could pay him, but that didn't seem like the whole story when I read it.
On a side note, does the video say they have three artists to produce different versions of the deck? Or is it multiple artists contributing to a single deck? I can't understand what she is saying.

Hey Billy, PM me and I can at least let you know my side of things. That said yes, I left Albino. I had been working without a contract since March of this year, I was let go immediately after the close of principal art production on Name of the Wind.

I think many, including me would like to know the full story of what happened. Not sure where something like this should belong on the forum tho. Hope everythings been well for you Shane.

It's been a hell of a month so far I will tell you that much. I had expected a lot of things seeing AD roll on without me. Didn't really see this project coming though.

No mention of having the rights to this. I presume they do as I'm guessing that USPCC will have heard of the film
and wouldn't green light this without those "i"s dotted and "t"s crossed.
Anyway, not compelling and as much as I like the film, this is an easy pass here, too.

Hmmm...I like the back, but everything else not so much. And the pricing makes it a very easy pass. :\
As for the licensing, they mention that is a factor for the price increase in their FAQ , but don't say they actually have it yet. That alone would make me very cautious in backing the project.

I'm way more selective than I used to be, and this one doesn't even come close to making the cut with what they're showing so far.
Is the next Uusi deck out yet?

Glad to know I'm not alone in my thoughts on this deck. I'd rather back those kids' day of the dead deck where they were photoshopping makeup on celebrity faces than this. And I love both the book & movie. In addition to the rights to The Princess Bride work itself, if they were to use the likeness of the characters from the movie, would they have to get rights from the actors as well or the estate of Andre the Giant? Or is that covered by the rights for the movie?
In any case, the previews make it look like your typical dime store movie based deck. Shane, you really were the talent over there, I hope you can find a place that appreciates your work.
And I'm not even going to touch the $14 / deck thing. Not with a 10' pole.

i loved the Cthulhu Kickstarter and the White Rabbit, i even backed the Name of the Wind deck but had to pass on the Synthesis deck...just because of the high pricing $15 is hard cash guys - easy pass for me and since Shane is no longer part of the party - much easier pass

I share the general consensus here, and I'm amazed they've got $12k in pledges already. When (or if) people buy decks purely based on brands (producer) they should be ashamed of themselves, and I think it's fairly obvious that this deck would not have sold much (if at all) had it not been for their previous successes. Supporting your favorite artists and completing collections is one thing, but bad decks shouldn't sell, period.

The video was good. Very informative; It was only a minute long. He could have made it longer. Kickstarter says 3 min max. He didn't say it was being made by the USPCC, but since he mentions Magic Finish I can only subsume so. Now would have been perfect opportunity to show a video of one of his up and coming new artist to draw the KoH. Erik and Shane were the first to draw a card. When I saw Shane draw a card I thought OMG I'm going to do that. Since then I have seen many copycats...
His back of the card seems a bit to busy and doesn't flow. What is that cyan blue? In the box, what is up with the different swords and the mask and AD symbol. The only text on the box is the name of the deck. This is were you can put all kinds of text and people can't bitch. The box for me doesn't work it's boring..
His KoH has a black "K" rank. I think it needs to be red plus his suit has way to much gold in it. His corner badge indexes are to common. It looks to much like a Zazzle deck. I think in general it going to be hard to distinguish the cards at a distance. I like the suit on the top right side. Anything that goes against the norm is good. I like the sword below the indexes. Makes me wonder what the others are going to be. Hmmm, Spade = Sword, Club = Staff, Diamonds = Coins, Hearts =Cups. I don't really like the text on the KoH "As you Wish" it makes it a "1-way back" plus with the ribbon makes it to traditional. Check out the links below. This guy Vladislav Erko was a master at using things to make the transition flow from one side to another.
All in all, just know you will get your decks. Erik has the history and I think he is becoming the master of adding rewards during the Kickstarter. Hell, he doesn't even have a stretch goal yet. He knows how to run a successful Kickstarter, but I think this one is hurried and you might have some delays. I personally think it's important to have all the artwork done. What do you have here?

Wait, you expect us to actually READ the WHOLE description before we start crapping all over the latest
persona non grata?
As for my own opinion on this deck. I'm not blow away, but i'd like to see more than one court and one back before i make my final decision.
That seems to be how AD operates though.... a very slooooooooooooow reveal.
At least I don't have to worry about missing out on any "early bird" specials...
I'm curious how much the licensing actually costs, and if it's a lump sum or a per deck charge... anyone know?
if it's a lump sum, he could have kept the per deck cost more reasonable and just set a higher project goal. seems pretty clear he's going to blow away his goal (already at 150% now).

This guy Taras Bulba was a master at using things to make the transition flow from one side to another.
Is just plonking something over the join masterful?
My opinion of the deck (well, card) is pretty much the same as the consensus - underwhelmed and unconvinced.

Plonking?!?
The Korchma restaurant's Taras Bulba is a beautiful deck. Each division was designed by Vladislav Erko to suit that particular card and it's story. IMHO an elegant solution that was well executed - not plonked.

Not convinced personally - the art is fabulous, but the centre transition just seems like an afterthought. Yes, the object used may be clever, thematic and well painted, but I don't think the way they are used is particularly imaginative.
But that's just MHO.

Yeah, it's a very subjective issue.
More universal perhaps is the opinion of The Princess Bride Dreck.
