I usually like Dan and Dave decks and the smoke and mirrors line but these are very underwhelming.

Looks like the Chicken Tenders deck or whatever that was called.

You mean, Chicken Nuggets? That's what Hanson Chien did as their very first deck of cards. Still remembering how the courts become fatso over junk food hahaha

So funny, when I first joined UC (well over a decade ago) the S&M was such a sought after series and I have a few of the earlier versions in my collection. Now it has become a cartoon of its former self, relegated to having to copy another "hype" deck (Jerry's Nuggets) in order to ride the money train to yet another stop. D$D are bad for card collecting and the hobby and I won't buy their crap ever again.

Strag,
I feel similar. When D&D finally re-issued the black and white S&M decks recently, I impulse bought a couple for the nostalgia, figuring they'd fly off the shelves. But they sit there on the site, widely available. They're distributed through Murphys even.
The market is so very different now than it was 10+ years ago when we both started. Fun to watch, but I certainly don't find myself buying decks like I used to.
Cheers to us being old geezers!

Standard faces and simplistic designs that lack creativity will eventually get boring. How many colors of the same deck does a person need? Lack of creativity and price gouging and marketing tactics that are not in good faith is what's holding the hobby back.

Agreed… SnM used to be special back in those days… until Card Mafia comes in to release V8 and V9 along with their gildeds… then later the 15th Anniv produced by the “self-made guru” Fulton, with SOO MANY GILDEDS from his side. Then all the collabs with established cardistry brands… HECK, they even release the “Reprints” - for sake of nostalgia and new people to avoid eBay high pricing.
I know that they are trying to keep the legacy of Smoke and Mirror alive… but… not like this… milking money from those Gildeds and limited BSes.
Just checked that the gilded of this Casino edition is $85. HECK! That’s highway robbery… only 12 each sold in DnD store, so no wonder it’s quickly gone as soon as its Live. And on Hanson Chien store, its a raffle prize where an entry can be made by buying a minimum of 12 decks… Jeez

People were excited for the reprints , V7 blue sold out completely on D&D website, but as more and more colours started coming + the money grabbing ltd tuck , signed tuck and then gilded , then v8 then v9 plus collabs with Dealersgrip , A1 , LiH ,Fultons people realised that D&D are just milking the decks off nostalgia, they are pretty much endlessly releasing recolours and collabs deck . I’m not interested in them anymore , shame that a series that was so popular has now become a joke

For everytime there are new decks that has Smoke and Mirrors name on it, just remember to tally how many times the Buck Twins break their own promise they made since the OG Set

Maybe there were returns, or this is some slow trickle campaign... but there's 8 Blue and 1 Red available for anyone who desires these.
