It looks good with that spotlight on it but I think the color might stand up/out in reality too

Re: Summer Monarchs by Theory11
I automatically thought of the Mailchimp summer deck too. I'll have to see everything else before I consider.

Always a Monarch fan, from the og to all the colors, to Gold Monarch and Now You See Me 2 edition.
But this time, I may get only one of this summer Monarch.

Re: Summer Monarchs by Theory11
I received a Theory11 email with this statement
"This weekend ONLY (!), a NEW limited edition Monarch Summer Playing Cards are available in limited quantities - while supplies last. This NEW edition looks like it belongs by the ocean on a summer vacation. The cards feature radiant purple foil on the back of a vibrant, neon pink design.
These will NEVER be reprinted, so act fast - and thank you again for your continued support!"
I'm not sure about the "This weekend only" and "limited quantities" part, but if you're interested, might be better to grab now vs waiting to see if there is another drop sometime in the future.

Re: Summer Monarchs by Theory11
Yeah, I have a feeling that if they had actually printed a low number of these, they would say what that number is. Nevertheless, I do like the color so I ordered a couple.

Re: Summer Monarchs by Theory11
I really like the color and have always liked Monarchs. I guess I have been out of the game for too long bc I thought Theory 11 decks were still $9.99. I guess they are taking advantage the same way every other company is taking advantage. Car insurance and home insurance rates have gone up huge the last couple of years. I don't like that. Recently switched insurance though and saved a bundle. Torn on ordering these decks. Seems like I have to get a few though.

If we were getting a different colorway of a previous release, I would have preferred Provision or Hudson.
That being said, I think this is a pass for me.

I was going to order 3 but the shipping irked me - see below
That does not add up to $25.97 and why are Internationals paying Tax

Indeed. Shipping for two decks to my location is $36 so I laughed and decided that these are not for me.

Because you always have to pay import taxes for stuff in general at least here in the EU it is that way. Luckily some international vendors know how to act accordingly...

It could be GST I suppose - I have got used to nobody other than ebay and Amazon doing that.
Any clues on how $21.64 jumps to $25.97 ?

Re: Summer Monarchs by Theory11
It is amazing how "The heart wants what it wants"
Not being American this may all be old news to many, anyway I followed up on the Monarchs artist Curtis Jinkins because it rang some bells
Lol Curtis is the brand designer for '59 Parks'. I never bought their deck (instead the book) but I liked the card backs, I just didn't like the mismatch between the backs and the style of the Courts/posters.
https://59parks.net/blogs/blog/91528390 ... is-jinkins
What I discovered next (well I think I have) was more amazing (you see the bells would not stop ringing). Curtis, I believe is the artist for Dan&Dave's Drifters which is one of my favourite decks (especially the tuck). I am only 90% certain of this as D&D, P52 and everybody else seem to have him as Curtis Jenkins (e not i)

100% Curtis Jinkins (not Jenkins) did Drifters
You can see them on Curtis's Dribble page
https://dribbble.com/CurtisJinkins
I could also have confirmed that Curtis did Drifters from Penguin (also repeated on P52) although they too spell it wrong
(No offense intended to the Buck twins - who doesn't love them)

Bad mistake by the Buck Twins - how would it be if someone called them the *uck TwinsFeaturing a custom, letter-pressed tuck case and beautifully illustrated faces, Drifters was designed by Curtis Jenkins, illustrator of Monarchs playing cards, in collaboration with Dan and Dave.

If these weren't limited and I seen them at Target, I would get them but I'll pass for now.

I'll wait for the T11 year end wheel. Mandarin Monarchs were 1 of the items you could redeem. This should be appear in this year's item list. I should have enough points soon enough to get the deck.

Re: Summer Monarchs by Theory11
Not super happy about the color, but if the foiling pops well off that bright pink background, it could be a winner. I'm a sucker for foiled decks that still handle well, so I got in. My guess is T11 printed at least 10,000 of these decks, so they'll be available for a long time for T11's "rare" events in the future in case you missed out on the "limited" release.

Re: Summer Monarchs by Theory11
Maybe they haven't printed them and the Long Weekend was like taking pre-orders.
The reason I say this is that they are already making nonsense delivery excuses
The reason I say this is that they are already making nonsense delivery excuses
My S17 Anthology from Gamblers Warehouse took 9 days to get here this week and that included 2 weekendsThank you for your order! Just wanted to make sure you were kept updated of the current delivery timeframe for customers in Australia.
Due to a large amount of inbound packages, shipments entering Australia are experiencing delays up to several weeks for delivery.

Those of you who ordered, I hope you'll post to let us know how you like the color combo on the backs! I expect these will be available to people with enough loyalty points, and I'd love to know if this a good deck to spend them on.

Re: Summer Monarchs by Theory11
On another note, I found out there's a way to bypass the weekend limit for T11 decks if they aren't sold out. I had wanted to see the shipping costs for 2 decks and left the decks in the cart after getting the shipping $.
Turns out I could still buy it a few days later and T11 gave a 10% discount on top of that as I had ignored the earlier email prompting me to clear my cart. Not sure how long they'll keep it decks in the cart as I removed the decks. That was Thursday, yesterday my time.

So the buyer of that first ebay sale above, will supposedly be waiting quite some timeshipments entering Australia are experiencing delays up to several weeks for delivery
