I'm no fan of italic letters and numbers as indices. Besides that, a cute deck.

I do see the charmie in it, but yeah, those number cards go pretty far afield for my liking

I dig these. They're cute, different, and creative. I'm on board for this one.

They are certainly creative but apart from playability issues they're just not my thing

The Meechelin! Konbini Food Guide Playing Cards for Foodies is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable.

Looks like Michelin is arguing that the Michelin man's likeness was used in this project and can confuse people to think this is a Michelin supported product. That medal with the "Meechelin recommended" probably conflicts with the Michelin Star system they have already as well. I wonder if Michelin will force them to make some changes or scrap the whole thing altogether. Not sure what this means for backers.

She’s advised that they have to make changes. TBD.

The original estimate for these cards being done was next May, so there's plenty of time to get things worked out. Though Michelin challenging this playing card project is pretty damned lame and silly. There's no possibility of confusion here.

Like:
Michelin’s mascot is just that big white globe guy with creepy eyes
This one is Mijiko’s signature cat
Same pose, yet we can all tell the difference lol. I don’t see the reason why the actual Michelin raise this accusation of Meechelin being similar as theirs

Meechelin and Michelin are very similar in name and then you add rolls to the cat's arms just like the Michelin guy. They'll definitely have to change that.
It's unfortunately the guys with more money that have the power in these situations.

The copyright dispute has been resolved on this one and the page for the campaign is back up showing the changes. Still think the dispute was silly as hell. No one was going to confuse this.

Disagree - it seemed a total rip off. New name and no arm rolls - are the old backers allowed to reneg?

You can contact the creator directly but no, I don’t think there’s a way to through kickstarter.

I just assumed that most people in North America and even other parts of the world had made this connection. It looked hacky in that way to me and was an easy pass.

Absolutely, it's quite astonishing that even Kickstarter perceives them as acceptable for parody and has bestowed upon them the "project we love" status.
