Hi everyone,

I am here today to announce plans for my upcoming Kickstarter campaign: Osprey No 2 & Goshawk No 3 Vintage Playing Cards. This is a two deck set housed in a tobacco tin featuring one deck in blue and one in red. I have been working on this for over a year and I hope you enjoy the result! Hand-drawn vintage style illustration throughout, nothing stock and no A.I. The cards are Poker size and will be printed by Legends on their pre-crushed stock with Classic Finish (I recently handled a deck of these for the first time and found them to be incredible). The tuck will be printed inside and out on luxury matte card stock. For those of you interested in classic and antique decks, you will find many design cues taken from the great manufacturers of old: for those who are not, I hope you can appreciate the beautiful old-world aesthetic that we have tried to conjure up with these decks, and immerse yourself in the wonderful photography taken by Chris Moyer aka Chambertincards. The Pre-launch is now live, so please sign up to be notified if this project is something you are interested in, we plan on launching on Weds July 24th. We hope to see as many of you as possible there, I will leave you with some photos to look through and will return closer to the date of the campaign launch. Also for those of you who remember our first campaign, we will work our hardest to bring our USA friends the best possible shipping rates we can on this one!

Awesome work overall. I really love everything you‘ve touched BUT the courts. They - and yes I know it’s on purpose - look just bad imho. Does anyone really find them visually pleasing? There‘re so many good looking antique courts (e.g. New Era courts or the ones Jackson uses for his standard courts) why choose the ones that look so crude?

Yeah, I was really digging on these until I saw the courts.

I understand the Courts are polarising. I wanted something unique and I guess I was almost looking for an extreme example of type... something you couldn't find anywhere else. I also wanted them to gel with the overall vibe of the deck and not just be doing their own thing. I am inspired just as much by obscure decks that faded out of memory as I am by those that went down in history as classic, popular, great etc.

I hope you will consider backing the project given your appreciation of all other aspects of the artwork or just to support my work in general... but if you don't, I understand

I‘d love to support your work and I certainly would have in my early days but I have funds going into four big hobbies, which aren‘t cheap ones either. That, paired with having a couple of hundred decks already in my collection, makes it hard for me to justify a purchase. No worries at all though, there will definitely be a purchase in the future. I see quality and passion in your projects so it‘ll be only a matter of time until I‘ll bite. I‘m rooting for this project on the sideline.

I like the courts. I think they capture the antique vibe well.

Nice tuck and redesigned standard courts but it would take more for me to want to fork over ks dollars.

I've a question. Not related to the campaign. I noticed Manchester, England on one of the cards. Curious, you a Manchester United fan, Manchester City fan, or a fan of some other club fan? Maybe you don't watch football at all. Just curious

Oh yeah, I got that. I was curious to know if he supports one of those Manchester clubs etc.

As a former United supporter (fan as a kid - not really interested in football anymore though) I bet he's a Citizen because most Mancunians are. United has more of a global fanbase.

Ah, good question! Alas I can only disappoint and confirm that I have no interest in football whatsoever, and never have I drive past both home grounds a fair bit, that's about as far as it gets !

I think Alex could have plenty to look forward to.
Both this campaign and Daniel Schneider's Black Roses 4 have around 220 backers
If you add up the pledges from the options available you find that these pledges are about 2/3rds of Alex's funding
While for Daniel they only add up to 1/3rd of his funding - Daniel's backers 'add on' a lot more
If Alex can establish a following from this campaign he too may find that his backers add on a lot more
