Kings Wild Equinox and Solstice decks inquiry

Unread post by mtsedwards72 »

Hullo, collective! Another request for clarification and advice, please.

TL;DR - Did the Equinox I deck ever come in a standard edition?

As a fledgling Wiccan, I'd love to own a set of decks that reflect my beliefs. I looked at Jocu's Wheel of the Year series but - although stunning, affordable, and available - they don't quite hit the mark. I discovered Kings Wild's Solstice/Equinox series and am vibing more with that, but it seems that the price for these on the secondary markets are a bit steep. I did get a bead on 3 of them (Summer Solstice, Winter Solstice, Equinox II) with matching plain, standard tucks but the only Equinox I versions I can find are the 2nd edition ones with the fancy tuck. Did KW ever make Equinox I in a standard tuck that matches the others, or should I stop being particular and scoop up that red/gold embossed one?

Also, as a hail mary addendum - does anyone have the entire matching set they'd love to give up to a new home? ;)

TIA for any help/advice.
I'm not as interesting as I think I am.

If you check out the Master Deck List, there is an Equinox I printed by MPC in 2018.

I believe it to be this one here, printed by MPC: https://portfolio52.com/deck/6571/view

Not to be confused with Equinox I 2019: https://portfolio52.com/deck/8407/view

Many thanks! Are they just reprints? So the faces and backs are the same?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this to be the case.

The original Equinox is one of my very favorite decks by dint of being the very first Shorts deck :D

Yes, Equinox started off the Kings Wild shorts deck and was just amazing. I think I have a few boxes of I think a gilded error version for something crazy like $2 each. If you want a carpy gilded error version, PM me and I will se if I can find one to send you. I forget all the different versions that have come and gone over the years, but it has been a bunch. It was a great series for sure. For the record, love Jocu's stuff as well.
