is UC a joke

I was checking out the Home of the VORTEX DECK aethercards. Some young guy posted a thread asking if UC was a joke. Seems like a nice kid I guess he just got sucked into the VORTEX. Many things were said but I just don't get bashing another forum dedicated to similar topics. Yes, I talk about Alex and the VORTEX DECK a lot because Alex ripped off a lot of people and still has the nerve to run a website dedicated to playing cards and he actually writes things critiquing KS projects that don't deliver. I wouldn't criticize aethercards on whole as there are some decent people trying to talk playing cards. A lot of them probably don't even know how many people Alex stole from. Alex even mentioned me in the thread saying something that wasn't true but that doesn't faze me, I don't expect a thief to tell the truth. So God Bless everyone who frequents aether but be wary of Alex who is in denial of all the people he stole from. I actually still get mad when I think of how he stole 500 dollars from a friend of mine. My only problem with aether is that it is run by a scammer

I hate the bashing of innocent hyperlinks as much as the next guy! It's the jerks and trolls that give any site a bad name. That and allegiances.

That thread you're talking about is the joke. Apart from a few glimpses of sanity and maturity (Don Boyer and Sparkz) it's pretty much a UC bashing thread. It makes me sad to think that people discovering Aether as their first card forum might read threads like that and get a horribly skewed and biased view of UC. I also have nothing against Aether, but Alex keeps poisoning this community that should be kept together, not split.

I frequently browse Aether as well. Actually, i think i started browsing both sites around the same time, about a year ago. Nothing in particular turned me off over there, i just found UC to have more variety of opinion and a bit more humor - thanks mostly to MF, walrus, and for a while Ortho. Aether seems way too reliant on Don, who seems to author practically every other post (a slight exaggeration...).
After i found out about Alex and the VORTEX DECK, i had even less incentive to sign up, though i occasionally stop by to compare opinions on some of the more outlandish KS decks to what is said here.
Yes, it is amazing that Alex is so unabashed that he continues to criticize other KS campaigns, but he actually doesn't seem to post that frequently any more.
Now i'm curious to see what they're saying about us over there...

It's the 2nd thread to pop over there bashing UC over the last few months. It's pathetic.

And... recently...

Aether had DRAMATICALLY inflated its members counts by keeping the flood of bot accounts..

On June 10th Aether had 1684 Members, gaining about 1 a day.

then, 71 days later.. they had 18,356 members! Nearly a 1100% increase.

Whatever makes Alex feel better at night I guess.
