Kickstarter Price List
There have been some inconsistent prices on Kickstarter projects. I don't mind paying a fair market price, but some of the projects have obviously been overcharging. So I've made a spreadsheet with the prices of every Kickstarter project I could find. The file may not be complete, and the projects are ordered by when I found them while I was working on the file (so pretty much random). I'll sort them out better later on. I've also added retail prices for a comparison. There are only prices for 1-3 decks, but I think this gives a pretty good indication of what prices should be. I've used the prices of the main project deck when they have more than one, and I've used the regular prices when available. No early bird or limited prices. The shipping for the 2nd deck is additional shipping from the 1st. Shipping for the 3rd is additional from there.
If you notice on the bottom, there are two tabs, INT and USA, so this spreadsheet is for everyone. I've already filled out the international shipping prices on all the Kickstarter projects. I did not put the shipping for international retail however. If someone wants to give me the international shipping prices, I'll fill them in. If there are any projects that I missed, or you see any errors in the information, please let me know.

Re: Kickstarter Price List
Great work, this is a very useful resource. I remember the early KS decks when they sold for $5-$6 per deck. Now KS decks are doubling or tripling those early prices.
Re: Kickstarter Price List
Probably because they realized they were losing money at $5-6.sinjin7 wrote:Great work, this is a very useful resource. I remember the early KS decks when they sold for $5-$6 per deck. Now KS decks are doubling or tripling those early prices.

Re: Kickstarter Price List
yes i can see how at $5 a deck they arent making money, but unless you are embossed and foiled, plus using a heavier stock you do not need to be at $15 sorry i got no interest, but clearly most people do. as most of the $15 decks were funded, so my opinion means very little.Brillig wrote:Probably because they realized they were losing money at $5-6.sinjin7 wrote:Great work, this is a very useful resource. thank you so much!! this really helps. what i think is interesting is that the one deck total ave is the same for kickstarter as for other stores with shipping included, and that its with 2, 3 decks that you really see a price difference with shipping. personally i think with shipping $9-$11 is fair for most kickstarter decks.Ben Taylor wrote:There have been some inconsistent prices on Kickstarter projects. Re: Kickstarter Price List
I've added about 20 projects, those that I missed originally and all the new projects. I've sorted everything by date. I changed a lot of the formulas for better calculations. I've also included yearly averages at the bottom.

Re: Kickstarter Price List
I originally skipped over that one because the lack of international shipping prices, and add-on decks, would have messed up my old formulas. I've added it now.CBJ wrote:I think you're missing the one that started it all... Lance's Bicycle Actuators (artist edition)
I used that thread to get a lot of my data. However, I skipped some of the art project decks, anything with $25+ decks, and some of projects with less than $2000 of funding.badpete69 wrote:ben just checked with the thread of funded KS projects..Every funded card project should be there

I don't see Awakened Villagers of Cairn ($15) I like that they've changed from line art to full color, but that's still steep.

Re: Kickstarter Price List
Updated to add today's new decks, and removed all the unsuccessful projects. There was an issue with the old link, I've edited the original post with the new link.

Re: Kickstarter Price List
Howdy Ben,
In your USA tab you have the 2nd deck total at $23, for 2013, but the 1st and second sum to $22? Also is it fair to place Dale's 3D Deck in the mix when it is not a traditional deck project?

Dukeboy - You may be right, but isn't it neat to see how Dale messed up and is going to have to eat some of the cost. Guess it goes to show you really have to triple check your rewards before you post them. You can not change them. I wonder if he could cap that reward and start a new one with the correct shipping. I think you can. I also liked seeing Sean Whelan's deck on the list. He really was trying to cater to international crowd by giving them a break.
Ben Taylor - Thanks for taking the time for the list. Really enjoyed it!

Re: Kickstarter Price List
It looks like he has it at $25 per deck - so if the spreadsheet was wrong it's fixed now.
I sort of agree that the Dale Mathis Mechanical deck is so unusual that it might unfairly skew the averages for 2013...
Perhaps you should have done some checking of your own before posting

I think it was a mistake in the sheet if anything - because Dale's pledge levels seem pretty sound to me. And would it really have been "neat"? I can understand the feeling that KS pledges are getting more and more expensive and having a project runner "eat" the costs is sticking it to the man, however such mistakes run the risk of project runners being unable to deliver the project if it funds, and Dale has done nothing to deserve that sort of attitude - especially considering what you get for the money.isn't it neat to see how Dale messed up and is going to have to eat some of the cost.. Re: Kickstarter Price List
Everything is displayed as whole numbers. So if the 1st deck averaged $12.40 and the second was $10.30 the total would be rounded up to $23. There are so may decks on the list that Dale's is statistically irrelivent. In 2012 there was a higher percentage of decks at $20+ than 2013, yet the average for that year is still lower.DukeBoy wrote:Howdy Ben,

Between last night and now, Dale limited his $50 reward with $8 int shipping, and created a new one with $13 shipping. So my numbers were correct yesterday but they are wrong now. I'll change the as soon as I get to a computer.

Re: Kickstarter Price List
Ben - Maybe Dale saw your list and capped the $50 reward yesterday. I think you saved him a whole lot of some money. Maybe you might get something in your Christmas stocking for your work.

Re: Kickstarter Price List
He made this change once he passed the $50,000 stretch goal and started to include the metal box free, the change in shipping is to account for the added shipping of the cases.sprouts1115 wrote:Ben - Maybe Dale saw your list and capped the $50 reward yesterday. Re: Kickstarter Price List
I didn't put any early bird or limited decks on the list. Only the main deck for each project.vmagic wrote:What about the $40 Federal 52 deck, I didn't see it in there?
