I think he's using the mystery printer for all decks now. I'm undecided on if I like this design or not. What do you all think?

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
This series should definitely continue to be USPCC. I also don't understand why this is a kickstarter. Seems like it would be easier to just release it like any other deck.
I've spent way more than I care to admit on playing cards, but I'll still buy just about anything that Lorenzo, Jackson, or Gio make.

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
KS is a good way to see public interest in such a deck and gain exposure as well to the general public. KWP isn't known for cardistry and the last Pi deck was over 3 yrs old. So he can gauge if it's worth commiting the time to such a series.
Does anyone know if JR did the design himself or was it done by June?

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
A while ago, back when he first began the occasional "Dawn's Early Light" series, he gave a peak at the Apple Pi backs. At the time, he said the design was completed and ready to go, but then he sat on it. I cant recall if this is the same design or not, though.Eric Lee wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 9:11 pm KS is a good way to see public interest in such a deck and gain exposure as well to the general public. As for the Kickstarter, as mentioned, I presume it's to gauge interest. During an Instagram Live, I asked about Apple Pi and he said at the time it was unlikely to happen due to low interest in the series. I suppose he sees an opportunity to revive it via Kickstarter.
Im in for this one, to support keeping the series going But, Im 'meh' on the design

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
She does the Table Players mostly for certain. JR did mention it when he introduced her officially and when he went through how he did the TP decks. She picks the designs and goes through the final list with JR on which ones are selected. Then they work on the final design before letting her complete the deck.
Not sure what she's doing now for 2023 since she and JR completed the TP 2023 decks in the Enduro 3, 4 months ago. You can watch that here:

She may be the one to do the finishes like the colors and the pips for JR as well once he's done with the courts and backs. After all, those are the most time-consuming part of designing a deck. (Based on my limited viewing of his past Enduros and DEL )

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
This is clearly Jackson's attempt at a cardistry deck, so with that in mind he hits a lot of necessary points design-wise. It would all be for naught if he went with his mystery printer because the finish and handling would be woefully insufficient for cardistry purposes.Adamthinks wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 5:05 pm I think he's using the mystery printer for all decks now. I will back but the Pi series is the only one of JR's that I just don't get excited about.

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
I see a couple comments in this thread saying they will back despite not particularly liking the design. Is this a completionist thing, or what? Doesn't make much sense to me.

For myself, I did not say I did not like, I just do not like as much as his others.
I am a completionist also at times but I am sure I missed some his earlier Pi decks.

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
For me, it's perhaps a bit of completionism I personally liked the other Pi decks, like the colorways on the suites, and think it would be cool to see him finish out the series. And I as well don't dislike the design, but it doesn't elicit a strong favorable reaction either. But I have my limits, I have other '1st' decks, but the new one just doesn't resonate with me, so its a pass.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 10:31 am I see a couple comments in this thread saying they will back despite not particularly liking the design. I am more of a pecan pie person myself. I am a completionist myself, but not sure I am that into completing it at this point. I have more than a few really rare early gilded versions from the days of old...
I am on the fence at this point, but will probably get at least one. My budget for stuff beyond my Patreon obligations is going to have to be curated.

Some decks should've been left standalones. Gio's Eva and the OG Pi are prime examples. No wonder this series has zero to none interest outside of fans of KWP.

King's Wild is purchasing their own printing company? That sounds crazy to me, but what do I know.
Anyway, I broke down and am backing for a gilded and standard pair. Not my cup of tea, but my completionist won the battle this time.

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
I think red heart & diamond pips and green club & spade pips would look better.
Though normal spade & club pips are black, they don't look right with the apple pi(e) theme.

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
I was kidding. It's probably just the mystery printer. Just saw how it says KW is printing them, when it's some company they don't want to reveal.

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
Getting the sticker might be useless for me since I don't have its original passport stamp, and I got the Plum and Choco outside from aftermarket.
Hmmm.... Should I wait for Apple Pie to get outside KS?

I am already inside. It's just my second thoughts on getting the sticker - I don't own the original passport for the Pi Series, as well as I got the Plum and Chocolate Pi from the aftermarket.STLBluesNut wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 9:07 amseems like KS is nearly always the lowest price. i would back there if you are interested.
Also, I revisit both of those Pi decks, am surprised that this Apple Pie is bordered, with top and bottom have broken border design - not really a problem, just the OCD of having the series have a consistent formula

Re: Apple Pi by Kings Wild Project
I have some of the stickers somewhere but I am sure not all.
Speaking of KWP stickers did he not do the 13th deck thing last year? I never claimed the 13th deck in the previous years as I found it too hard to keep track of the stickers. I wish that subscribers would just have gotten the 13th deck if they were members the entire year, I never understood the need for stickers.
