i have liked his style, i just have not been able to get into the animal heads on people he has done. hopefully, this deck will be something other than that.

Looks like the official name for the 2022 Portfolio52 deck is Nazo Nazo, the name of a whimsical Japanese Inn on a fantastical Island created by Jack Brutus Penny, the artist behind Culturae Animalis and Sensu.

Pre-launch page likely coming Thursday/Friday of this week based on JBP live stream information, pending KS approval.

Kickstarter expected to be released on Tuesday, October 11th, based on P52 site. Time TBA.

Splendid pick for the featuring artist here from Alex imho. Jack always brings his flavour to the scene which I like a lot.

Unrelated - or not - didn't Alex say a 2021 NPCCD deck or set will be released after the community voiced the opinion thet the P52 deck shouldn't replace it? Or is this old news and from now on the P52 deck will be replacing the NPCCD deck/set?

There will be one this year. No idea if he's skipping 2021 and going straight to 2022 however.

I'd suspect so (skip of 2021); unless Alex hits us with a double release.
If I understood him correctly 2020 had a different theme at first but he changed it due to the pandemic. So, he had a concept up his sleeve that he could release as the 2021 set. A double release would be a heavy hitter for the wallet though and would make a load of people dislike the release so - unlikely.

Some more high resolution photos. We can see Alex Chin's influence on the half-brick presentation of Nazo Nazo inn. Looks like we will have 3(?) variants? Two of which are gold and silver gilded with the gilding showing on the side through die-cuts that portray windows. Excellent execution.

I like that the die-cuts are merged into the design and not just punch holes like on other decks.
I guess the design of the cards are all (more or less) the same and we just get tuck swaps? I'd be surprised if Jack really did six completely different face designs.

Pretty sure its 3, not 6 - the deck set side view seems to have three showing one side next to the same three showing the other side. Figure they are same designs, perhaps with some color variation

It looks to be three variants, with each variant offering two different designs on each side, allowing you to create the six deck display. There also seems to be a gold gilded and a silver gilded. Whoever's idea it was to make the gilding visible through the sealed tuck is genius. Hindsight is one example, and I know I've seen other examples too. I love it.

Also, since we're talking Alex Chin here, the deck display is likely similar to Magna Carta. Three variants (Royals, Rebels, King John), but for one of the variants, there are two different gildings.

There is an Add-On only called The Cloud Brick which is described as a set of 12 decks, equally distributed among variations of the Nazo Nazo series. The brick offering will evolve with the campaign to include any limited edition deck releases.

Interesting that it is not available as a standard pledge level.

Of course, I had to add it to my pledge.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he added a tier for it, but I am happy to keep the bricks untouched and open the standalone set of 3

Update: They have said this in the comments section regarding a brick tier:

“We were on the fence about it since brick tiers usually feel like they have custom brick boxes and we didn't have one for this campaign and didn't want to miscommunicate if people were expecting that. We can definitely look into it though.”

I am so glad it is just 3 editions
BUUT! You need 2 sets to complete the image
This is that great opportunity to own a mint set and an opened set

Both Alex and JBP would be pushing themselves out of their comfort zones if they created a brick box together. That would be exciting!

Depending on how the campaign evolves, I may need to adjust my pledge but I'm looking forward to this campaign coming to fruition.

JBP clearly puts in a lot of work, and his design aesthetic is undeniable.

But, art appeals to some and not to others, and one man's gold is another man's not-gold. Or something.

I'm glad this campaign is doing well. I'm glad the P52 series is heading in such a fascinating direction. But, I feel like last year's deck (even though it was ultimately labelled P52) was the last of the UC decks, and this one feels like the start of something wild and interesting and new and... not for me.

I've always been *thisss close* to backing JBP decks in the past, but I just can't clear the hurdle. I love the effect his designs have on fans. The illustrations are lush. But, they just don't work for me overall.

I hope this is an overwhelming success. I like to see solid effort earn solid rewards. But, yeah. Pretty sure I'm sitting this one out.

I just joined in. I am just sitting at a half-brick, or two of each deck. I am feeling this too much like the last campaign, and that ate my lunch. I love his stuff, but my warehouse is getting full.
