New campaign by Ian.
Usually he's quite flexible if you want to add decks from his previous campaigns.

Ian is my favorite designer I've never purchased. I can't quite spend that much money on his decks, even though I really appreciate what he is doing.

I will spend a bit more for his decks. At least they aren't something cranked out of a playing card mill.
This looks like one of his more playable decks.

I'm in for three decks. Would be a shame if the campaign doesn't fund.
He isn't my favorite designer in the world but I like his quiet ways of making playing cards. But most of all, I think his intentions are important for all of us.

If you have seen some of Chuqii's posts of old decks he has, more than a few look seriously messed up.
Here is one of the source cards, so the original had its issues too.
Honestly, it is Ian's personal style that just makes me love it. He is totally different from every other card designer out there. It is not for everyone though I admit.
Only 36 backers and not even halfway funded, so there are some concerns this one will not have enough steam to get finished. Hopefully some more will join the bandwagon so he can bring this group of messed up royals to life.

They depict Royals, duh! If proper depicted it will always vary between inbred and crackhead

I'm absolutely in love with these! I've had my eyes on Cumpstey's work for some time but this is the first time I'm actually getting anything from him - I only really collect antique Japanese decks and my cupboard is full! Couldn't say no this one though. Would really love to see it reach the £8000 stretch goal for alternative (red) backs.

Hi all, I am thinking of trying again to launch my "shimmering seven" playing cards sometime soon.
The changes I am proposing compared to the original campaign are pretty slight. The production and specs for the cards (by MPC) would be identical to what I was proposing last summer.
One change - the only "artwork" change - would be that I've redone the "label" on the front of the tuck box.
The other change - a big logistical change from any of my previous projects - would be that I would plan to use MPC's fulfilment service, shipping directly from them to all international backers. I would still handle fulfilment for UK backers myself. This would have the effect of reducing the prices slightly for international backers compared to last time, however some prices for UK backers would be slightly up compared to last time.
Also the funding goal would have to go up slightly, which if people are going to be pledging less per person will only work if lots more backers arrive. So we will have to hope they will I suppose.
None of the changes are very big really as there is not a lot of wriggle room in the production for this project. I hope it can make the difference.

If he's going to use MPC anyway, I'd be happy to pre-order the decks and skip Kickstarter totally - couldn't he just print however many he needs? I want these to exist!

This is the first I have seen of this deck. Reminds me of the Rick Davidson Origin series but more reflective of the original style brought to modern times. That being said, probably not for me but I appreciate the work.

The Cards from the Pattern Garden say "cards made in EU, box made in China." They look great but don't handle particularly well. If he used a better printer I could see myself going for a half brick, but as it is I'll settle for a pair.

I think his choices of printers are especially limited because of his budget. It is a measly 1,000 brittish pound goal and currently only 1,670 pounds pledged. Unless he has another co-producers (which I don't think he has), any extra printing is borne by him directly. Sadly, he is not widely popular.

The 2nd Edn of The Inglewood Hunting Deck said the same thing.
The 2022 Special Edition of the Liber Ludorum deck which is available as an Add On was actually printed by Cartamundi in 2019 (and is Poker size)

Manu do you have the V2 Inglewoods to compare them with
I would be interested in your thoughts
Although they have the same details on the tuck, I now note that the V2 Inglewoods were actually printed by Cartamundi (see KS)
I don't know who printed the Pattern Garden and I don't think Cartamundi can be printing the Shimmering unless there is still a Polish factory doing custom cards
I wonder whether your experience with the handling of PG's has to do with them being 'smooth finish'
The Shimmering are also smooth finish whereas the V2 Inglewoods are linen finish

I have the V2 Inglewoods out - and they fan every bit as good as a brick doesn’t.
Spring and dribble fine, faro not.

Yes, I am more than happy with my V2's but wondered whether Pattern Garden are similar as I thought the Shimmerings might end up being more like them as they are both smooth
Ian did reply to me that apart from the smooth/linen difference V2's and Shimmering have the same underlying card stock
I am considering a brick of S7s and would love to know if they compare favorably to V2 Inglewood

Alright, comparing Inglewood 2nd Ed. to the Cards from the Pattern Garden:
Inglewood actually fans fairly decently due to the linen finish, and I even got a faro shuffle out of them. The corners are also more rounded.
Garden has a smooth finish and does not fan at all. The cards feel more flexible but less springy, and I could not faro with them.
Overall I much prefer the Inglewood cards for their handling.
