I'm trying to acquire decks with historical value in the modern collecting era, and NPCCD sets certainly fall into that criteria. If anyone is looking to sell their decks from the list below, please feel free to reach out. The ones in this first post are the ones that I am missing.

These were really tough to get as a complete set as Alex sold them as pairs only. The best you could do when they were released was to get a Midnight Gold and pair it with a random Pearl deck. If you wanted to try to go for a set, Alex did his best to oblige, so several of us got up at midnight to order that deck just as it went on sale and purchased five (or more?) sets. I was lucky enough to get a full set of six and sold off most of my surplus Midnight Gold decks.

However, for those lucky enough to attend the convention, there was a convention exclusive Platinum deck. So, just to mess with your OCD collecting brain, there is a rarer seventh variant.

It has been a long time since that series went on sale, so perhaps you can find someone that got a set way back that is ready to sell.

Thanks Bradius! Yeah, I read up on the process behind this deck on the original 2017 NPCCD thread here. I actually didn't know the way it was all numbered until yesterday when I made this post. It made sense why I don't see any of the decks pop up on eBay that often (I think none since I started collecting back in March). I really hope I can acquire some of these from the set over time. I've learned to be patient with such things. Amazing that you had the opportunity to obtain the full set back then!

Like Bradius indicated you were not guaranteed any specific color. I ordered 8 and still was missing one of the colors.

The other issue with this deck was the way it was packaged for shipping without any individual wrappings, they slid around in the box. 3 of mine came with the slip case torn where they slid against each other.

Bump. Updated to include more than just 2017.

If anyone has a 2017 Amethyst NPCCD deck, could they please update the P52 listing picture? It has the same photos as Bronze.

Saw this (Anthracite 2017), but its open and expensive not sure if you are interested as I think its pretty rare.

I definitely did see that one but I was thankfully able to get a sealed Anthracite from Kirillas for less!

The going rate these days for the 2017 seems to be around $150-175.

I'm not looking for it too intently as it's just one of the infinite prototypes Alex has. That's why I've excluded the 2018 x/20 "Missing Island" prototypes from my list. They just don't appeal to me, even though I had an opportunity to buy a full set about a year ago now.

Regarding official releases, my priorities remain 2017 NPCCD Pearl Amethyst & 2018 NPCCD Green. 2017 Platinum as well as 2020 prototype would just be added bonuses at this point and more than a pleasant surprise.

Definitely overpriced. I haven't cared too much about the 2018 prototypes.

Recently acquired 2018 NPCCD Green. Decided to add the missing island decks to the hunt now.

Top priority: 2017 NPCCD Amethyst

I think that when producers show that they don't care about their customers, people stop caring about them. Look at Vanda, Natalia Silva, and a few others who have disappeared. Out of sight, out of mind, and personally it also means that I get rather disgusted to have their decks in my collection. When I go to sell, Vanda et all will be the ones I get rid of first and for cheap.

I know of what Strag speaks, and I do see it as an effect on the secondary market, but I don’t associate catastrophe (or personal failings) with intent. I’m sure there is some deck I wouldn’t wan’t in my collection - but I have no idea what it is or from who - would need to have quite the bit of bad blood in it…

I don't know, I really like most of Alex's decks and still do. The ones that were not too much to my taste are still not too much to my taste. Same for Vanda's decks. The Planets are still one of my favorite all-time sets.

Well, if he was still around creating decks, people would continue to flock to support his works and a following would increase demand. Since that piece is missing, and collecting has evolved, there might be lesser overall interest in some of these decks. The avid collectors are still on the hunt, but either they have the decks they want already, or aren't as interested. It doesn't help that we're in limbo regarding Alex's predicament.

2018 NPCCD full 7 deck set had sold for $1,275 in 2021, and here's the photo from that listing: The auction initially went for $2,275, but when the buyer didn't pay, the relisted auction went for the $1.2k. As a result, I was expecting the Green deck to go for multiple hundreds of dollars, but the auction ended at $210. A 2018 set of the 6 decks has been on eBay for months at $285. That means the full 7 deck set was obtainable for sub $500 in 2024.

Updated now that I've found three of the Missing Island decks, which are headed my way: My list in my main post continues to show the decks I'm missing and looking for in case anyone has them in their collection and open to selling. Thanks for stopping by
