I feel the same way. I like 95% of the J&T decks.

James posted a performance video of David Buck doing sleights with what undoubtably is the new deck from J&T.
It'll be a full bleed black back featuring a gold metallic ink repeating logo pattern and seems to feature the handdrawn/woodcut style courts from Pedro Oyarbide, which we know from the HappySad deck. Gold metallic ink on the faces as well.

The limited on the tuck is a tad stupid coming from a brand that reprinted almost all of their designs multiple times (which I endorse, because fok limited). Other than that it looks yummy.

Yes, the tuck and those backs DO NOT mix.

Tuck box gives me an AoP Antlers vibe.

Yes, I agree. Very much so. Not that it's a bad look for me. I'm still in.

i am not a big fan of repeating pattern backs like that but they do match that tuck rather nicely.

Both of the tuck boxes shown are fantastic.

They're front (older pic) and back (latest pic) of the same tuck, just to clarify.

I like full bleed repeating pattern backs. While not bad, this one doesn't excite me though. Still a definite grab for me, due to tuck box, courts and ivory finish, if they're not too expensive.

I really like the tuck design. Do you know when these will become available on the J&T website?

Victory Playing Cards, $20.00

For those who seek Victory, in any endeavour. Joker and the Thief presents a limited edition deck that is an homage to our founder James Milaras’ family. The name Victory is a direct tribute to the efforts of James’ grandparents, who were Greek immigrants and owned and operated a fish and chips shop in Far North Queensland, Australia in the 80s through to the late 90s. The name of the shop was Victory and became an institution in the small port town of Cairns - known for quality food and customer service. Victory playing cards pays tribute in name to their immigrant spirit of hard work, of which we as a family are grateful to be inspired by and benefit from.

This deck is a limited edition run of 1,000 decks and features:

Embossing
Interior and Exterior Foil
Letterpress Inks
Svelte Smooth Finish
Borderless Back Design
Metallic ink

Gotta say, this is an A+ tuck -- and it's always nice to see custom cards with a smooth finish for a change! I should have grabbed an extra from SoCal

the tuck is superb for sure. although these courts definitely have a JT style, in my book, they are basically standard. along with the casino style repeating pattern back, i didnt go out of my way to get these.

I'm curious how those who don't like these kinds of backs see them. Maybe it's because I'm a card magic guy and false deals look more convincing (at least for those who are shitty like me) with full bleeds, but I've always found these patterns endearing.

It’s a mixed bag - you can use them for anything, but if the trick is double or triple lift heavy - especially for a packet trick - it can be a burden that I won’t bear, even after I have gone through the trouble of making a gaff card for the occasion (hummingbirds deck, 4 aces trick, not well thought out)

Still, my favorite market decks are borderless and I will use a borderless deck even with a lift - I just wouldn’t stick myself with that unless it was for a meaningful benefit due to the extra flash ability

Just one less thing to think about really, a little safety net for a slip of the hand - I’m sure that I can double lift well enough to not flash but that four aces bit is just one after another, and I’m gettin old…

Okok yeah I get it from a magic point of view. Myself, I've matured into more of a gambling sleight of hand sort of guy, a mechanic so to speak. For lack of a better term, the dude who you wouldn't want to play cards with.

Shameless flash of a small but valued piece of my card magic books. Image

Most of the time, my hands are together when I execute a sleight, so I always have one or the other to provide cover. I do table riffles, cops, palms, steals, deals, strips, cuts, etc. For my purposes, the borders are not all that necessary. When I perform with a standard deck, it's almost always Bees.

I am not into magic at all - I just collect these little paintings called cards. You have a reason for buying this deck, I now try and control my impulses and only buy what I love. This includes simple and patterned backs - I am after all Honeybee. I think Victory is a nice deck, just not one that I have to have

I bought this deck just for the box. I haven't seen a better box in the past few years. Well done!

certainly a decent decision but i have been trying to stray away from doing that myself in the past couple of years lol. the tuck is very good.
