Charitable Deck

Lorenzo Gaggiotti and I have been discussing the possibility of a charity collaboration to benefit humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Obviously printing a deck is a massive undertaking and we wouldn't want to just throw something up without having a true understanding of where the public lies with this. Is there interest in a blue and gold special limited edition of the Parlour Dynastinae? The tuck case would be slightly altered and the edition size embossed on the top lid of the tuck would be indicative of the final numbers ordered (no more than 777 tho). The price will be determined later but It's likely to be close to $55 with 100% of profits going to humanitarian efforts. Let us know what you think.

Doesn't this just needlessly limit the total amount you could end up donating? :ugthink:

I get why you're sticking with gold but that gold isn't yellow enough IMO to really reflect the Ukrainian colors

Ideas that aren't a new deck: Stickers? Prints, or recolored prints, of court cards? Maybe advertise a specific day/week you'll donate all profits from sales during that period? A discount would help but would offset the donation total. I wonder how a gaff-pack type "art cards for Ukraine" type thing could work with several known designers......

The simple answer as to “why now” is because now is when I’ve become aware of it. Forgive me for not being more knowledgeable. My goal was to send funds to the humanitarian efforts for refugees and/or medical care and food and supplies NOT to the military or any faction responsible for fighting.

I’d certainly buy the deck, limited or otherwise.

I wouldn't want owners of the green deck to somehow feel like there deck is less special.

Maybe this is an option for colors?

Conspiracy theories aside, I'd definitely get that deck. The first one with the quadrants being blue looks beautiful

I would definitely be in for this deck! Looks great, and I’m always happy to support a good cause.

Honestly thinking it over… I’m pulling the plug on this. Our hearts were in the right place but no good deed goes unpunished. Mods please close this thread.

Thanks to all those who replied. Sorry to disappoint. Really just want to steer clear of controversy or any improper perception.

That sucks. all because of one dude ranting about the MSM hiding the truth? There's probably more support for this deck that opposition!

I don't want this to be a censored forum, so I want to avoid outright deleting posts, but things have to stay on topic (i.e. the deck in question). And moving the off-topic conversation to a new thread was received poorly last time, so this time the new topic is also hidden (for now).

Montenzi: Shoot me a PM if you want me to resurrect your posts in the General section, otherwise they'll stay hidden or get deleted.

TGW: I'll leave this up at least for a bit, as it seems like this is a popular idea. We can discuss further action (on what to do with the thread) via PM if you want.

Everyone: Discuss the conflict all you want, as long as it's in an appropriate thread and section of the forum.

Back on topic: I'd be interested in this. I like both versions, the first is maybe slightly aesthetically superior, but the latter fits the theme/cause better IMO.

LOOOOL

@MagikFingerz, nothing new. It's a norm now. We live in a world where people don't ask questions.

I absolutely think both of you have your hearts in the right place. My opinion is my own, so take it as that. I appreciate the thought and even so, might participate if you go through with it for a lot of reasons. Sorry if my reaction dampened your enthusiasm for this project.

On the idea of charitable decks, I have already donated directly to causes that I wanted to give. It was also matched by my employer. If I want to give more I will do it that way.

If you want to do another deck, do it. If you want to donate the proceeds to a cause you want to support, do it. I wouldn't buy it because of the charitable aspect because I already did what I wanted to there.

I bought the Ukraine butterfly deck because I like the design. I liked that PM also had a direct donation option. But the Ukraine support wasn't why I bought the deck, I already support the effort in multiple other ways

Daaamn this is juicy X9

Although… if you make this deck costly, then there’s small chance only a few can get and donate. I think the idea of a charitable deck is that you make the deck accessible to anyone, not only mainly for card enthusiasts - so many people get it, and you get many profit to be able to help

I'm with hsbc and Laito on this one:
- makes no sense to limit a charity deck
- gold is not the colour of the Ukraine so no gold - especially under the point Laito raised. Cheaper deck makes it more accessible.
But I'm late to the party as it seems.

I would be on board for a deck like this. Always happy to see a charity deck.

I do agree with the others that a limited production doesn't make much sense if the goal is to raise as much money as possible.

I can understand the concerns with gold being in replace of yellow. I do understand and see that point. If it could be done with a true yellow it would be ideal given the color of the flag.

Any update on this? I hope one person was not able to put a kibosh on a deck everyone else liked.
