Hey everyone! My name Is Danny. I have been collecting playing cards for about 5 years. I am currently at approx 1500 different decks. I'm a professional magician, and I keep coming back to this site to read what the users have to say. There is some great info here!

I am not normally the biggest on forums, but I wanted to get input from other members here. I am currently writing a book about playing card collecting, and I will probably put it on kickstarter when I am done with it. Of course I'll let you guys know if you are interested.

On a side note, I just got my UC deck from kickstarter in the mail last week. It really has a great style! Great to be here.

Hi Danny, and welcome. :)

what kind of book are you writing? a how-to? or some kind of guide to available decks?

that's a rather large collection you have! how do you store/display your cards?

cheers!

Thanks for the welcomes!

The book that I am writing is basically a reference guide for how I collect cards and other ways to do so. I am a vintage collector as well as a modern collector as well. I am trying to get people who collect one side interested into the other. If the book sounds interesting, maybe I'll make a new thread about it. For a little information about it: I have a chapter listing off 15 locations for finding collectable playing cards which are ranked in order of rarity of the cards, frequency, condition, variety, and most important: price.

There's also another chapter where I have conducted interviews with: Owen Packard, Lee Asher, Dave Buck, Paul Carpenter, and Tom and Judy Dawson. They were all really great people to talk to and their interviews are an interesting view into how they collect cards.

Finally, I have a couple of displays. I have a large shelf that was built into a wall. I use the long white boxes what were mainly used for sports cards to store the lesser impressive decks. I use them with "L" shaped frame stands for the decks. I got a pretty good picture, but I'm not exactly sure about the rules for pictures here. Can anyone let me know?
