Always been a fan of magic (card and coin especially) as well as poker (I guess thats cards and coins again)… Seems it was only a matter of time before I started collecting cards, though it was rather a surprise to me at the time that I did. Here is the current collection, less what is in the mail or awaiting Kickstarter fulfillment of course

About 100 open decks, not counting the few odd decks laying about here and there:

I love the look of the cabinet also.
I think that is the way I would like to keep my decks also.
I mean I thought at a setup like this, but with only one row per drawer. I think that is a little unrealistic for the amount of decks I have. Or I would need a really large drawer...

The stack height for each drawer ends up being a key point - if all drawers could only hold one or two deep the total capacity of the cabinet drops drastically due to the space needed for drawer bottoms and drawer spacing. All totaled each drawer uses between 3/4 and an inch of cabinet height not including the height needed for cards.

As is the cabinet will hold nearly 700 decks

Sorry - I meant to put a warning at the top of the page that there were a few sins committed and a few decks hurt in the creation of this post

All fairly hasty in the manner the cabinet is packed now, I will pick and poke at it until it is resplendently organized and obsessively focused… then I will likely resplendently reorganize it in another fashion…

I remember when I was still able to fool myself into thinking only a few shelves of this cabinet would contain cards…

I wish I could spend 10 minutes unobserved with that cabinet...

Well, these are the standard edition and I have been looking for the limited edition since I got them - so I imagine we are really both still looking for the same thing…

As for the ones I do have, you can likely manage to find those if you post in the marketplace here - if you have decks to trade let me know and perhaps we can work something out

The only decks I have to trade are a black and white set of Minim, a blue Choice that seems to go for silly amounts on ebay (not sure if one's ever sold for those prices), a pink AoP deck and an Autumn Butterfly, none of which are probably on your wishlist. The rest of my decks are opened and fiddled with although you're welcome to peruse my modest collection on P52 (in sig).

I hadn't realised there was a marketplace here, might give it a go. Although being the UK makes shipping a pain. I don't suppose you know what sort of price a standard deck of Matchbox goes for?

Not sure about aftermarket - they were available from Chet and a retailer or two when I picked them up, at the time going for $15

You have a great collection. We own decks by a lot of the same creators: Ondrej (the Butterfly cards); Lotrek; Gio; and Lorenzo all jumped out at me.

I had seen these thin cards about a week ago and had it rattling in my had to get some, after seeing Cluefans collection all resistance I had to starting to gather some up was obliterated

Grabbed what I could off ebay, and since at least one variety is known as Domino Cards, I stumbled into a nice domino deck I couldn’t resist (mini size which I found particularly irresistible - vintage and gilded sealed the deal) - any more rabbit holes and I am going to need to sell my house…

Also came across a Tichu deck, which does not seem to be a rabbit hole, but it did seem to need to be added to the collection - its for a particular and popular game which uses 4 extra cards and plays like bridge with 2 teams of 4 players

Latest acquisition - an old set of mahjong style poker tiles

The bottom drawer is for a set of betting sticks - none in the box but I picked up a set from ebay which have not yet arrived.

Bunch of nice stuff coming in, this is one I’m too happy about to not pre-blab before they arrive - Elaine Lewis Bible Transformation deck - this is all I’ve seen of it so far, so once it arrives we will all get our first look…

Scored an Elaine Lewis Tarot deck - another mostly blind purchase - here is what I know of it thus far:

Published 2005, 22 cards [ 0 to XXI ] plus title card, edition of 30, handwritten booklet

Two Karl Gerich decks arrived today - one from London, one from Switzerland. Another month or so before the next batch of decks gets here (numbering somewhere between a half dozen and the poor house)

I unpacked the boxes carefully, leaving the last layer of bubble wrap / tissue paper on as I carried them to a safe holding area. Once I take out the garbage, clean the kitchen, vacuum the rugs and polish the doorknobs I will be ready to put on my clean room suit, set up a table in an area of the house curtained off with plastic and take some pics…

Expected unboxing tomorrow…


I picked up the Beautiful Bath deck from a gentleman in Switzerland - turns out he used to live in Bath and knew Karl - well enough it seems that he was the model for the character Guglielmo in the Cosi Fan Tutte deck…

Is the Bath deck an original??

Yes - I have two copies of the reproduction on the way as well

(one with some flat pack wooden house deck holder or some such)
