Nice courts. I'm usually not a fan of overly ornate cards, but those look pretty nice.

Jack of diamonds gave me little House of the Rising Spades vibes, too. Overall I like the courts very much. Back and tuck aren't making the cut though. I suspect the tuck being like the Sovereign decks, which I found underwhelming.

My thoughts exactly. If those are foiled, my plans to cut down spending will also be... foiled again

Hey everyone! Thanks for starting this post Harvonsgard. I am waiting for Gambler's to start shipping Umbra before I launch Dominion. In the meantime, please consider hitting the "Notify me on Launch" button on my preview page. This will give you instant notification to when I launch Dominion. Just follow this link:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/do ... ying-cards
I am always on the look out for how to improve the scope of my projects. One of the things I have really tried to work on is the delivery time. After all of this time, I can never get a project below the 6 month mark from the closing of the Kickstarter campaign. I thought that would happen with Umbra, but Chinese New Year and delays at port kept it from getting to the warehouse sooner. There is always something right?
So, the only thing I can do is order the production sooner than when the Kickstarter launches. I have ALREADY ordered the quantities for Dominion. This is a big risk on my part. I figured this can be that time, since Kickstarter now allows for the Add-on count. I will be able to keep track of how much inventory is left during the Kickstarter, which could not be done before. Every reward and add-on will have a limited amount to them. This is just to keep them from going over.
Of course, there is really only one down side to this. If we run out during the Kickstarter, there is no more. I had to come to the decision to be ok with that. I am figuring if we get to around $70,000 to $80,000 we are about to run out of decks. I actually hope you all see, this is really a good thing for you all.
I am producing 3 decks plus a Gilded version. A standard edition (1500), Full Foil edition (1200) and a Gilded Edition (500). The Gilded will be the standard with Red Gilded edges.
Dominion will also only be a 20 day project instead of the usual 30 days I do for a Kickstarter project. If you have ever done a Kickstarter, you know how slow the middle of a Kickstarter is. My best time has been during the first two weeks of a project. I have always hated the length of the middle and end of a Kickstarter
If you look at the preview image, you will see two decks in a case. This is a beautiful 2 deck box that I worked with Lawrence (LPCC) to produce. There is a limited Quantity. Ordered 400. Each one will have a Gilded and a Full Foil deck that goes inside. They will be sealed with a 3d embossed numbered seal. It has a magnetic flap for the enclosure. Only the best!
Lastly, I just want to describe what Full Foil means. Here is a write-up that I had Lawrence send me:
Double-Sided Full-Foil on ultra-thin card stock
Imagine spray painting a mirror, you would have some shiny silver bits that you leave without paint, and some colorful bits depending on how much and which color you spray on the mirror. This is a rudimentary example of how the full-foil printing and production process works.
Typically this printing technique is used on trading cards (Pokemon) but never on playing cards due to the research and development involved in ensuring the playing cards handle just as well as a standard deck, with no clumping or chipped edges. Legends has perfected this technique for playing card production, however it is reserved for LPCC’s top print customers only as it requires advanced artwork setup.
Full-foil is one of the latest innovations from Legends PCC, and more recently double sided full-foil with UV inks, extra shiny exactly where you want it to be, and ultra precise. Full-foil is beneficial because you can overprint multiple colors to make any part of the artwork shine with varying reflectivity levels, exactly where you want it to be. No more detail loss or artwork shift like you can see with hot foiling.
Lawrence has really done a great job at producing some of the best and innovative cards. I could be more excited to partner with him on the production of this deck.
Sorry for the long post, but just wanted to let you all know what's coming and even to get your thoughts.
Thanks!
Jody

No worries at all, I'm happy to share great projects. Very nice update. Reads like Legends has something in their arsenal now that is quite similar to Cartamundi's cold foil process.

I've just re-read the update - never apologize for the length of a post if it is full of great news btw - and was thinking about this:

The Gilded will be the standard with Red Gilded edges.
Why aren't you gilding the full-foiled one? Like an ultra blinged out version
![😃](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f603.svg)
. Is there something in regards to technical aspects that doesn't allow gilding+double foil, or is it simply an artistic (too much might be too much) or business (price for double foil plus gilding might make the deck too expensive) descision?

Yes, I can't gild Full Foiled cards. A milar type foil is applied on both sides and goes to the edges of the cards and then a block out layer is applied before putting a CMYK layer over that. Basically it would melt the milar foil on the cards.
I would have made the standard full foil too, but I wanted to get in a deck that was a little more affordable for some. I didn't want my lowest price for a deck to be $21, $22. Of course, just because someone get's the standard, doesn't mean they are missing out on the full scope of the deck. It just doesn't have the cool foiling detail. It's really cool what Legends can do with a full foil card. Really nice. I am waiting on some samples and will share some pics and videos. Photos just doesn't capture the full effect of the full foil detail.
Good catch on that. You are really paying attention to the details

You can totally gild double foil laminate cards, I've been doing this since the first Holo, Legal Tender. If you are using LPCC then we are using the same plant and process to foil laminate and I've successfully gilded multiple double foil laminated decks. Hit me up if you want me to share my dark magic with you. These cards are awesome.
Here is my Legal Tender with Holo Gilding as an example.

Hey all, just want to clarify something I quoted earlier.
Legends was a part of the development of the first full foil in playing cards. As you all know, Bill Kalush and Lawerance both partner together and use the same innovations for full foil. Bill, with Paul Carpenter and Jackson Robinson have produced some of the first full foil playing cards.
So I never meant to say Lawerance was the sole innovator of full foil for playing cards.
I’m surely thankful for Bill and Lawerance’s innovation in the area of full foil for playing cards. They really make our designs look and handle great on playing cards.

Everything is ready. There are 3 early birds that will be available for the first 24hrs.

Thanks Jackson! When you said that you can gild full foil, I checked with Lawrence. He is not sure at this point how they were able to do the gilding for full foil, so we are waiting to hear back from the factory on that.
Thanks for the heads up. If I can do it, I will have to wait for a future project. Man, that would make for a super blinged out deck though. I've got a couple other projects slated for this year, that would be perfect for gilded full foil.

No tier for any Black+Red combo (x2/x4/x6). I guess the add-on system makes it redundant, but an EB would have been nice for those of us who don't care about gilding.
Definitely in on this regardless. An EB might have made me go for more decks, though

These are gorgeous. Stunning, really. And probably worth the money. But I can't afford to spend $74 on 2 decks right now. Which is a shame because these might be the first Jody decks I won't own.

If you're not interested in the gilded deck, it's $43 for the other two. You just have to add one as an add-on.

Boy that is NOT easy to understand. I would have missed this if it weren't for you! I feel like a tier for these two decks should be obvious but alas. Stupid gilded decks. I have
such gilded deck fatigue.
