I can picture the USPS now... "Anything fragile, liquid or perishable?" Nope! " *sniff* *sniff* Wait a minute!"
I like the idea though! What I'm not going to like is all the followers on Kickstarter trying to horribly duplicate..

Yes, it's true...I'm working with baconery.com on this bacon deck and it's going to be pretty amazing!
Baconery will be taking care of the order fulfillment. They currently ship bacon baked goods to thousands of customers so I don't think bacon-scented cards will cause too much of a problem
We will also be offering unscented versions of the cards for those of you who prefer not to contaminate your collections.
No official launch date yet, but looking at early-mid July.

Re: Bacon Playing Cards by Vända - (bacon scented) - coming
We actually spoke to them last year about designing the bacon deck but we were about to launch our Necronomicon deck so couldn't do it. Good to see someone from the community tackle it. Vanda is a perfect fit for that deck, and I'm excited to see how it comes out.davegk wrote:Yes, it's true...I'm working with baconery.com on this bacon deck and it's going to be pretty amazing!

Re: Bacon Playing Cards by Vända -now live on Kickstarter
Neat, but I think this will be the first Vända deck I won't be getting. Just not my cup of tea.
I'm sure this will succeed though, it's a cool concept for sure.

That's funny, this is the FIRST vanda deck that i think i will back. I like the design of the (one) court they've shown us so far. I'm in for one early bird deck.MagikFingerz wrote:Neat, but I think this will be the first Vända deck I won't be getting. Just not my cup of tea.

[As an aside, I don't think there's anything wrong with jumping on a KS early, to get the early bird pricing, and then cancelling later if you change your mind about the project. Especially since so many projects are now launching with only a handful of finished card designs on display. ]
And BTW, the KS doesn't mention anything about Bacon scents, though David himself mentions it below (Edit: i should have said "above"). Is that just a joke that i've now ruined by asking if it was a joke?

Usually even when it is scratch and sniff, it eventually wears out. But it would definitely be pretty neat if it did.
Thanks!

Someone today told me about bacon flavored coffee. Disgusting.

Re: Bacon Playing Cards by Vända -now live on Kickstarter
That is the least disgusting bacon-flavored thing out there, trust me. Bacon-themed things have a cult-like following... It's crazy. It was only a matter of time until a deck like this came out.Bikefanatic wrote:Someone today told me about bacon flavored coffee. Disgusting.
Can anyone confirm if the deck is bacon scented? For the sake of uniqueness, that would be the selling point for me.

Now I want playing cards actually printed on some nice, thick-cut, applewood smoked bacon...
Re: Bacon Playing Cards by Vända -now live on Kickstarter
Wow... Just ridiculous... From Federal 52 to the Bacon Deck... What a wide array of choices kickstarter offers the public... It's been a while since I've seen such an @$$9 deck...

Dave,
How can you post new updates for this deck, and not address the shipping delays for the Polaris deck in the Polaris thread (at the time of your post it was right under the bacon thread)?

Always nice to see where a producer's priorities lie. Stopping by to only post an ad before leaving speaks for itself.CBJ wrote:davegk wrote:10 Bacon Commandments Poster + set of 10 Po(r)ker Chips now available!

Re: Bacon Playing Cards by Vända -now live on Kickstarter
Sorry guys - I didn't realize there were new posts in that thread. I have addressed the Polaris delays in a kickstarter update over a week ago.
If you are wondering about your specific order, please send me an email at ace@vandacards.com and I can look into it and let you know when I expect to get it shipped. Right now I'm spending most of my time at Techshop trying to finish all the wooden laser cut items.
As for the Bacon project, just to clarify, I've been involved with the design and promotion but Wesley will be doing the fulfillment for all orders and he has a much better system in place for fulfilling shipments being that he's been running an online retail business for a while now. I'm expecting these decks will get into backer hands quicker than my efforts have proven with the first 2 Vanda decks.
Thanks,
David

Re: Bacon Playing Cards by Vända -now live on Kickstarter
For those who aren't aware, these did not get funded.
Thank you so much to all of you who have supported this project by pledging and helping to share with your networks - we came very close to our funding goal and although we didn't reach it this time, we're not going to give up!
We are very excited about all the items that we've designed for this campaign and we want to produce all of them, eventually. Right now David and I are discussing our options for moving forward and we will keep you updated very soon with our plan to satisfy all of our bacon-loving fans.

I did not back these and I didn't follow its progress but I am surprised they didn't fund. They are on the very unique side I figured people may want them for a conversation piece in their collection. I wonder if it had to do with the Vanda deck.

Is kinda shocking, a bunch of crappier decks than this have been funded on KS.walrus wrote:I did not back these and I didn't follow its progress but I am surprised they didn't fund. ETA, am in no insinuating this is a crappy deck. It's well designed and tho was not a backer it deserved to be produced IMO.

I'm also surprised, I wanted to get a few for myself and as gifts. I think Vanda's shipping history might have hurt the project a bit, even though they were just involved with design, not fulfillment. And there have definitely been much worse decks funded. Hopefully they'll regroup and relaunch, maybe they could do the game deck as a stretch goal and have a lower funding goal.Widdee wrote:Is kinda shocking, a bunch of crappier decks than this have been funded on KS.walrus wrote:I did not back these and I didn't follow its progress but I am surprised they didn't fund.
