I thought I'd start a separate thread for these decks

Jackson, if you read this, your work is incredible and I'll surely want these decks just as I pledged for the last pair. However, I think you should get the previous KS decks printed and shipped out before starting another Kickstarter. People will then be able to see and hold your art firsthand, the word will spread further about your quality of work, and people won't have any possible doubt that you'll be able to follow through to shipping out all the decks, a concern that has increased significantly lately due to some other card deck KSers defaulting. I'm not saying you'd do that (I wouldn't have pledged if I thought that), but several other decks are struggling or failing to meet their goals right now because this fear is sweeping through backers and affecting people unconnected to the scandals.

Or just avoid kickstarter altogether. I'm pretty sure Jackson has amassed a decent fanbase by now, so I don't think that would be a problem.

I agree get the first set put to bed before starting another campain. At the very least do not start the campain until your third week of shipping, so you can have feed back about how great you did in the comments.

Although these look fantastic.

I am in agreement with the others.
I personally will not pledge beyond one deck if I haven't received my first deck yet.

Not that I feel you will scam us.
It is just that it has happened so often that I won't risk more than 10 - 15 dollars until I have seen a result.

I agree as well about needing to have -at minimum- partially shipped the former project (I'd prefer closer to 100%). I have noticed the trend lately seems to be launching a project while the previous one is still in production or leading up to it, not just for card projects either. I am much less likely to pledge more than for a deck or two if the previous one still hasn't even been printed, much less shipped, and that seems to be a popular sentiment from what I've read. I can understand wanting to keep momentum going from a previous successful run, but it worries me that dealing with multiple projects in various stages of completion could get out of hand easily. Haste makes waste right? :\

+1 agreement with this statment you already seemed to be spread as thin as you could be durring the last project to be trying to work with vendors to keep the 1st set on track and keeping up with all the questions that we throw at you it might get overwhelming and something is going to slip through the cracks and cause a big delay or worse.

I would think that creators would want to wait a while between projects from a monetary stand point also. If, like Jackson, you have a fantastic project give your backers a chance to replenish their discretionary funds. That way they can contribute more and not feel stretched too thin.

I hope you don't use that seal sticker. It doesn't go with the cards.

I agree. It seems to be his trademark....but I'm not a fan of the logo and agree it doesn't go with the cards.

I dont think anyone really likes the seal, doesnt add anything to the deck at all.

Those seals are for his Kings Wild decks and would use different ones for the Bicycle branded decks.

Yeah, the deck seals really take away from how amazing these decks look.

Hopefully the branded decks get different seals.

I will no longer back any card projects on KS and hopefully these will be made available elsewhere.

I've also decided to walk away from Kickstarter.

There hasn't been one deck on KS, that wasn't available after they were shipping.

Actually, most times you could buy them BEFORE you receive your KS decks you pledged for.
I still don't have my 8-bit decks, and they've been on some sites for over a month now.

And, on a few occasions, the decks have been cheaper than what I had to pledge for to get 1 deck (because I live in Canada).

I'll just have to learn patience, and wait for the decks to be available in the aftermarket

Am nuts about Jackson's work and went in heavy on KS, but agree with many of you, it would be nice to get the first batch in my greedy little paws before jumping in on a second flight. If they're as good as we're expecting it would only ensure continued success of the second go 'round.

I understand everyones view towards me already starting the next project. These decks were a direct outgrowth of the original Federal 52 project. If it weren't for the added level of complexity it would have created on the "Federal 52" project, I would have added both of these decks to that project. In my defense this will be my 4th kickstarter 3 of all of which have been successful. I have completely satisfied all of my backers from my previous projects and have delivered their rewards on time with the date that I have promised.

With that said EVERY card designer on kickstarter is feeling the effects of the few scammers out there. I actually welcome the added concern and caution. It only gives the genuine designers a chance to prove their worth and integrity.

For those that don't feel comfortable backing my second project, I would say you shouldn't back any project that you don't feel %100 comfortable with. I haven't back a few projects my self for that very reason. I will once again with my second project take the stand point of not selling to wholesellers, and any one who would like to wait until after the project is over the few extra decks will be available on my website for the Kickstarter price.

The print / production world is something I am in now way a rookie at. I have been a professional illustrator and designer for more than 10 years and have supported my family with that profession. My reputation has always rested on my ability to complete projects on time and deliver products when promised. This is something I am fully used to. I have designed and illustrated over 250 packages for Hasbro Toys and Lucas film licensing. The heat that I catch from these forums and Kickstarter is minute compared to what Lucas FIlm and Hasbro can dish out. If you would like to check my credentials, your more than welcome too, my portfolio and resume are free to the public.

Here is my professional website:

I hope backers become even more cautious and do even more research into the creators they may back. Eventually I hope to not have to use kickstarter at all. As always I welcome you comments and concerns. Thats enough with the soap box. Here is some more images.

Even though I have been the victim of 2 kickstarter scams (Army Men & Asylum), I appreciate the the amount of updates on the project and by posting images of the proofs, it shows the progress.

I have confidence that I will receive the cards before your estimated delivery date of Sept. 2013

thanks

Quick question for Jackson. Do you have the estimated delivery date for this campaign yet? I am putting together a collection of cards as a Christmas gift for my husband and would love to have all of your decks in it. So far I am on track to have about 40/45 decks including the 2 branded decks from Federal 52 (and the hand inked AoS;). Thanks
