I'll take the book form vs looking through a deck of cards for a drink recipe.
Move on, nothing to see here.

I can understand the argument for utility; a pack of cards is much more portable than a book, and has the added benefit of doubling as a gaming tool as well as a reference. But if that's the idea, the selection of paper cardstock instead of plastic feels like a design failure. Basically all imagined use cases for these things are going to be in immediate proximity to liquids; is the plastic coating really going to save them from getting soggy and warped when your drunk friend spills all over them the very first night you bust them out? I'm skeptical.

As a former waiter/bartender these would be right up my alley...

... if the back and tuck wouldn't be bad.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

I like this deck but I don't love this deck. I don't much care for the tuck but I understand where it comes from being straight to the point and getting it done. The card back is really well done considering the theme. It's got it all in there, if a bit busy, still it's got some balance to it. Very solid in my opinion. The card layout is also good, it's getting the job done. It has it's purpose and it's clean. I like this deck. If it had some more fun on the tuck, I'd love it. If it made me thirsty, I'd love it more. What I want it to have it doesn't because it's an aid. It lacks personality and I do like character. :)

If I want to make a drink, I'll read a recipe book. If I want to play cards, I'll use any other deck.
