Zach is cranking up the release speed again. After just recently dropping 4 new colours he announced a Halloween deck for the 31th in store (no card teasers yet).

Second deck to be released on 23rd October is a collaboration with the label DABS MYLA:

At this point, I'm tired of hearing the arguments for Fontaine. Either they're cash-grabbing, or they have no design standards and are simply cranking out every idea that comes to mind.

Or just a fella doing what he does to earn a crust and have a good time? ;)
Hard to fault a guy for that in my opinion but that's just my opinion.

πŸ’―% - agreed. Nobody is perfect and Zach has like most of us his flaws as well, but solely from a card perspective - can't put a blame on him at all.

He's lately not having a good time appareantly though;
post from his instagram stories earlier today...

Longer explanation about exhaustion followed but too lazy to screengrab all of it.

Well I am very interested in the DABS MYLA collab (they seem to be a pair of artists, not a brand per se)

I believe they could use another "U" after the "F" to show how much they care about their customers.

ok I have to say this, I am really not a fan of Fontaine's but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the back design of that Dabs myla deck. And I will be going for that one! I am partial to floral decks and that one with the color palate *MUAH love it!

You will have to order through the NTWRK app, which is crappy af with tons of 1 star reviews on Google Play... I downloaded the app and right off the bat the app told me to "update to the latest version," which is exactly the version that I just downloaded. Even if I clicked "OK" to update, nothing happens, so basically you've just downloaded a broken piece of junk app. Thus, I don't have high hopes that this drop would make people happy; expect a lot to be disappointed by the technical difficulties of the app itself. The website itself for this deck is also redirecting and asking people to download their app to purchase on drop (https://thentwrk.com/show/1541 ). Let's see if that works

I could appreciate Fontaine using this scheme to cross-promote their brand and the collaborator's business, but if the platform constantly sucks, either Fontaine's site or the collaborator's site (mostly fashion hype brands which yearns to build their publicity too), I don't really know it's just promotion for promotion's sake or is it really working together to bring the best out of both businesses. So far for me, it's the former---publicity stunt.

That said, this particular deck is extremely appealing and artistic. The court styles are reminiscent of some quirky antique decks like from Hermes. Unless there's a way to get it besides using the app (as Fontaine states on their Instagram), I'm looking forward to aftermarket purchases.

Uusi isn't a brand per se then? Stockholm17/Thirdway Industries is one guy, that's not a brand?

Customer service response basically tells you that "go F yourself for having an older Android version and device; our app is too good for your device."

Ok... That was an experience... Didn't know how to add the 3 deck option. When I finally found it, it was sold out. I thought it's a mistake. 10 seconds later the single deck option was sold out too. It would have been my first Fontaine. Maybe next yearπŸ˜‚

Haha, I hear you. I'm not even trying anymore.

I'm kind of curious how long it would take to sell out a 15,000 web press run.

If anyone snagged an extra dabs myla deck I would love to review it. Will trade a TTOTT prototype and give credit on video of course. Let me know.

Going for a Fontaine release is against my morales; however, the art for DabsMyla is just too good this time. Got only one and that's enough.

That's the fun thing about morale - one can always find an excuse to go against it πŸ˜ƒ.
I'm seriously happy though to see so many "sophisticated" collectors jumping on the fontaine train; only for once of course... or maybe another time for research purposes... or if Zach collabs with another artist again... πŸ˜‚.

I actually much preferred the app to Fontaine’s website! I hope Fontaine uses the app for its launches next time. So much easier to use. And I think no bots :p

I'm still not a fan of your jabbish antics on this forum, so get out of my face. I ain't coming on this forum for you to judge my reasoning.

No one's jumping on the Fontaine train; it's 100% about the DabsMyla, who are true artists. The other collabs are all with crappy hype brands, stanks of the same breed.

But I'll say I have both positive and negative to say about Fontaine's method this time:
The positive: Using the NTWRK app to block out bots, and it was effective.
The negative: the NTWRK app is straight up BAD in terms that it does not work for many systems, devices, and locations. To justify that it's an "equal chance for everyone" while asking that everyone who wants a deck would need the latest Android or iOS is pat-yourself-on-the-back delusional.

You may argue that Fontaine aka Zach is "dOiNg HaRd To SoLvE tHe IsSuE," but the simplest thing is to do a bigger print run. Does he do it? YES and NO. He claims that every drop is a limited release (2500/3000/5000/10000), however, it's been proven several times, especially during the Aqua and Pineapple release, that FONTAINE CLEARLY PRINTED MORE THAN THEY CLAIM, and using the limited drop number to generate the obvious hype but backhandedly sell more to resellers.

There is no justification for Fontaine's business scheme. This NTWRK drop is still not enough to redeem the brand's behavior; more has to be done in the long run to prove that they really care about their customers.

I give this the largest "meh" I can possibly give.
I've tried to understand the whole Fontaine thing, but I just can't.

The original Fontaines were subpar, and every drop since has been the exact same thing with a different skin.

Dunno, man.
