Another missed opportunity here. Could have done what the Oxygen or the recent Cardistry Baseball deck did with the courts. I would have preferred the joker used as the back but mirrored to make it 2 way. The courts just don't mesh with the theme for me.

Modified Arrco courts and a space theme? Good to see that Orbit inspires young folks to create. Not my cup of tea though.

This funding goal is too tight for comfort. I don't like that aspect at all. It is because of that I'm not going to pledge for this deck. :|

Let me be clear, it's not because of the flying saucer driven by Palm trees. :o No that isn't the reason because those are friggin brilliant! :D If I ever come across a flying saucer I'd want that thing being driven by Palm trees that like to party because "I didn't ask for the anal probe" is a real statement to be made from what I understand from Dewayne in the Ozarks. :?

Anyway, back on target is this deck, it's got style it's got flare, it's got crazy looking pips. So Crazy... they just might work! Honestly I like the AoD, AoC and the AoH. I'd like the AoS a whole lot more if it followed the same color outlining of the other mentioned Aces. It is because of this lack of color outline that I don't like the them on the courts, but I DO like them on the number cards. I know it's confusing but I'm a very simple guy. ;) Pip style in short, some work some don't.

I feel like this is one of those, not quite finished decks. Let me expand upon this comment friends. I say this because of, you knew I'd get to them, Jokers. I see this completely amazing and totally kick arse flying saucer driven by palm trees, love these. They're green lighting, I guess they're supposed to be beaming up... dice? Seriously? Dice? :?: Seriously, Dice. :| . . . Dice?! :x #@&%!*ñ DICE!

There are some major missed opportunities with this deck. This could have been great. I typed up this massive novel of a post on how to fix this deck and make it something incredible. Then I remembered, this deck that we see here is someone's vision. It's someone's dream. So for that someone I hope it does well and if there are fans, I hope it fulfills for them. :)

The name of the deck doesn't make any sense either. Where's the paradise?

As Eric said earlier,

Hi folks, thanks for the kind words and various feedback!

The intent is a casino-style deck with a bit of flair. So while it would be fun to go crazy with alien babes et al. it's not the focus, and as I'm not an illustrator, not where my strengths as a designer lie. In any case, we wanted to keep the deck in a territory where it is usable at the table but visually interesting in cardistry and not too custom for magic. Time will tell, of course.

Re: the funding goal. I'm just going to copypasta my FAQ :D

Yes. Printing a deck with USPCC costs more than this. Not a *lot* more, but certainly more. Of course leaving shipping for afterwards allows us to have a lower goal, but beyond that there are a few things that enable us to do this. They come down to retailer support, industry connections, day job experience that actually saves us some money, and private funding. We're here to cover what we can't make up ourselves, which is what this goal represents. I have a good feeling that we're going to SMASH our goal, but even if we don't, we are comfortable and able to get this deck printed as long as we fund :)

Joker. Dice. Galactic Paradise. A pair of dice. That is all. :D

But seriously I'd love to know what you'd prefer to see beamed up!

Seriously dislike when a creator can't bother to figure out the shipping costs for a project like nearly all creators do.

It's hot outside so I'm laying down some texty bits. Opinion really, it's mine feel free to share yours. ;)
TL:DR I don't like paying shipping later. There's some points in with the tangents by the by.

I'm not a fan of the idea of shelling out later for shipping. I want to budget my deck consumption out and do it all at point of purchase. :x (The board game people who don't know what their game with all the bells and whistles tend to do that pay shipping later thing, that's irritating and they should have done the math but I can understand that. Board game people tend to be lazy, that's what I take away from it to be honest.)

These are decks of playing cards, we know what they weigh and we know what they're going to fit in when they ship. To go further we know the best way to ship the things too. We got these things down. We're playing card collectors, this is in our wheel house. Every year the USPS posts (In October, yes I know it's July. I also know this campaign creator funded a deck last year in September and managed to ship in December.) how their prices will change and we can accurately predict what it will cost the next year. As I said, it's in our wheel house. ;) Shipping fee's later, not necessary. Lets do it all at once and call it done. I like that idea, in fact I think that's a great idea! 8-)

Maybe it's an out dated idea. :? I mean sure, it's an old idea so it could be out dated. The first Catalogs sold items all at one, good ole Montgomery Ward way back in 1870 something. (It's been a long time since I was in school and needed to remember dates.) Even so, I guess I'm something of a throwback to a different age, the age when we both knew and paid the costs upfront. :o I may be doing it wrong, I may be thinking about it all wrong too. :| Hmmms, If more did it this way, and it was standard. Then the bad guys would have to at least shell out some money to Backerkit or CrowdOx or whatever the flavor of third party post KS campaign of choice is. (Yes I know the campaign creator likes PledgeManager, I intentionally left it off so I could do this with it, bracket goodness, yum.) Hell the bad guys could even make their own third party post campaign service so they get paid twice from all the lollipops (I'm a sucker too) running around out there.

Lets show some reality here. With this absolutely brilliant model of charge shipping later. If someone wants to charge $10.00 to ship one deck domestic in the third party pledge organizer, they absolutely can. What can you, the backer, do about it? You are no longer armed with "Naa, shipping is insane I'm not supporting this campaign. You, supporter and lover of playing cards are at that point, hosed. You have no options. (I still don't think the campaign creator is a bad guy or would do this to supporters, to backers.)

So I look at this bit of the pledge tier "Shipping charged after the campaign". As complete nonsense given that this campaign has this bit here.
Image
In the bottom of the campaign GW are very good at what they do. There's not a whole lot of guess work.

So I 'guess' I have a question. Why? This is a question that doesn't need to be answered really. I saw the statement earlier. While it may make sense to you, dear reader. It doesn't make sense to me. We, the would be supporters, gotta pay it anyway. So why not just put it all in at once and call it done. Things about this don't make sense to me, that's okay. It's not my campaign. I guess I am pointing out a bit of flaggery though, aren't I. ;)
TL:DR It's completely up to you.
We can still be friends.

The shipping costs are all declared. There is zero mystery. I'm not going to charge insane amounts for shipping later. I've made it clear why I'm charging shipping separately. (To be fair there is a lot of text and I've done what I can to make things clear but any KS is a long scroll! Blah blah still my fault I know :? ) There is a chart showing how much it costs for each quantity of decks to the US and worldwide. And I think the price per deck with and without the shipping is reasonable? And I have done this and successfully fulfilled a Kickstarter before so I don't know how flaggy that makes me. And I know I am not the only person to have ever done this. I guess I'm taking more of a board game KS approach in that regard. Super common there. Sorry it's not to your tastes or expectations. Nothing stops anyone from just upping their pledge by the shipping amount (again, totally declared) and calling it a day.

I certainly can't go back and change things now with it underway. But I think that if you're running a campaign that allows people to add on decks, charging shipping after the fact enables you to prevent overcharging on the add-on price. If every deck adds a cost to ship, that real cost is not the same for your third vs. your 7th deck. I charge exactly the right amount of shipping by using the stronger processes built into PledgeManager to make sure there's no overcharging and no guesswork on the part of backers.

One thing I would do differently, in addition to calling out the separate shipping charge twice in every tier, is to call out the fact that those charges are visible further down the campaign page.

You have the right idea here. Not to mention the 10% that has to be paid to Kickstarter. It’s smarter to charge shipping off of the pledge manager. Great Job!
