I was excited this would be similar to the Cult Movie Cards project from a while back, but I am sad and disappointed. Just using actor headshots and copy/pasting movie posters doesn't take any effort, so I looked for some creativity and effort in the card backs. The card backs and tuck simply are not strong enough. They are just bland and look like layers of clipart.

Also, there is absolutely now way the creator would have paid for the licensing to use all of these images with that low of a funding goal ($2,000). The likely conclusion here (and I may be wrong!) is that Maya Creative didn't do any research into what images they can or cannot use. Frankly, I find this project insulting as it disregards the fact that someone else put in the effort to create those iconic movie posters. The only original contributions to this deck (the tuck and the card backs) have no appeal.

EDIT: I don't see how this project will go a full month without receiving at least a handful of cease and desist letters  And rightfully so. Artists should be protected or at least compensated when their work is used without going through the proper channels. Had the creator paid homage to these movies through original illustrations, like with CMC or A Striking Collection, it would be completely fine.

Okay, let's just calm down now. I am not wise. I have had a slice of cooked bacon floating over my right shoulder for a few years now. I simply type what he tells me to type. His name is Robert and he has a soothing voice.

I agree with Bacon as well. I have been wanting to create a deck using an already established IP and I KNOW before I even start or think about crowd funding I would need to get their buy off. I am surprised this isnt stated in the campaign to be honest. No thanks.

LOL... I love this thread. The deck? Snooze time. Nothing exciting to see here.

Aaaand it's cancelled. Seems like 20th century, Miramax, Paramount, Disney, Warner Bros., and the other myriad of studious and publishers have seen this campaign  .

So it's decided this deck won the Golden Raspberry.
