[krycho] Card Collection

I'll start off by posting my pictures of the decks that got me into this whole thing. I discovered them two years after they had been printed and fell in love with the art. I was already a big poker player and these really enhanced the game night atmosphere. These decks, like their designer, need no introduction. I also have a new Instagram, KrychoCards, where I will be posting pictures like these periodically.

The next set of pictures was inspired by saulriffel. I took a number of pictures. Only three turned out.

It used to get my hackles up when I would see something like a fully-custom KWP deck next to a hype deck like NOC. However, I have come to terms with the fact people have different reasons for collecting. While I don't care for NOCs, I appreciate your pictures and pairing them with the different gemstones - nice eye for presentation! I look forward to seeing more excellent card scenes like these.

I didn't like NOCs when I first saw them. In fact, most hype decks don't find their way into my collection. However, I go through a lot of cards. The biggest reason NOCs broke through was that I could buy a brick for less than fifty dollars. I'd rather practice shuffling and controlling cards with NOCs and only pull the truly collectible decks into rotation for things like poker night. That way, I can have something a little different yet comparably priced to Bikes for practice while keeping my Kings Wild, Lotrek, and Stockholm decks in good condition for events that warrant their beautiful art and themes.

These decks caught my eye because of the clockwork. Most people don't realize that the fourth place on a clock was traditionally represented by IIII instead of IV due to a number of factors including symmetry and reducing confusion with the VI at different angles.

did you do the card in the bottles on your own? I like that a lot!

I do put the cards in the bottles myself. I got the idea from Forest of Spades on Instagram. I found bottles on Amazon (20ml MaxMau) and created my own version.

I love American stamps from the first half of the twentieth century.

That's cheating! You almost fooled me with the last picture. For a second I was like, "why does the gilded one doesn't look like gilded at all?"

I was wondering who would catch that first  I loved the tuck and seal so much I haven't yet decided to break it on that one. I know the seal can be removed easily without damaging it, but replacing it perfectly is not as easy, not to mention each time it's removed dust will get into the seal. Since the cards themselves are identical and gilded cards do not faro quite as easily, I tend to use gilded shorts decks less often. Someday I'll open it for a game.

My Maduro addiction is getting stronger.

I'd love to see a Spanish Cedar style Kings Wild Maduro Custom Brick Box. It would be pretty easy for me to prototype if I had the permissions to use the art.
