Vengeance of Witches by Nicolai Aaroe
Nicolai teased an upcoming deck on his instagram. Tuck as always promising and I'm really intrigued to see what he came up with regarding the theme.

I really wish he would start printing with someone other than NPCC... Sigh...

In these dire times I'm actually happy these are being printed with NPCC. Makes it a real easy pass and some extra money in my wallet.

Re: Vengeance of Witches by Nicolai Aaroe
So, what is it that you canβt do with a collectorβs deck of cards printed by NPCC? Arenβt these mainly a piece of art not exactly made for cardistry or casino gameplay? Still handle pretty well by the way so no problem for an evening gameplay if you insist.

Re: Vengeance of Witches by Nicolai Aaroe
Well, the only nice thing about NPCC is the tuck, that they do beautifully. The card handling is very sub-par and then there is that loose and thick cellophane that you want just to rip off and aim for the nearest rubbish bin.masagin303 wrote:So, what is it that you canβt do with a collectorβs deck of cards printed by NPCC? Re: Vengeance of Witches by Nicolai Aaroe
Looks like what I do with my cellophane anyways. Doesn't matter if tight or loose - it hinders me to fully embrace my decks .
I own any NPCC decks yet, but despite their bad reputation I wouldn't hesitate to still buy a deck if there ever is one that really interests me.

I have the normal version of this deck (VJose also has a review for that version). Its one of the great looking decks I have from Noir ArtsHarvonsgard wrote:Looks like what I do with my cellophane anyways. Doesn't matter if tight or loose - it hinders me to fully embrace my decks .

Noir Arts makes some great decks, unfortunately the handling isn't as good as some of the other manufacturers.
I think that players and most collectors won't be disappointed with their quality.
But I don't want to derail this thread, I only wanted to show you an example of a great deck from Noir Arts that you may want to buy.

I remember when that deck was on Kickstarter and was seriously thinking about backing it. But in my mind I was thinking "$50 for a deck of cards is crazy insane. No way!". That was before I really got into Lotrek.

Re: Vengeance of Witches by Nicolai Aaroe
Looks promising so far. Nicolai always makes great detailed artwork so this will probably be a no brainer for me.
To be fair, Noir Arts make great tucks and the registration is quite good, I agree that it should be enough to please collectors. My main grief with them is not so much the handling but rather the inconsistency of the stock? The Memento Mori decks are quite good, they make nice fans, same for the Recuerdo series but for some reason The Catrina decks I own do not. Their Chess deck is just awful but they stepped up their game since that. Faro shuffles just do not work with any of their decks though.

Nicolai usually does do embossed tucks to some degree.OVSUB wrote:Is the tuck embossed?

I've got no qualms in admitting I'm a fan of Nicolai's work, but this is the first time where I've thought "I'll wait for more art"

Re: Vengeance of Witches by Nicolai Aaroe
I really like his stuff. I don't mind the NPCC decks, although sometimes the foiling on the tuck lacks detail. But his artwork is killer, and since I am a collector and not a cardist, the handling does not bother me much. I can still play a game of blackjack and poker with it. The other thing is that is he always delivers on his projects and my decks have always arrived in perfect shape. I look forward to this upcoming projects.
I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

Well, it is so stylistically similar to his other decks and he keeps using NPCC. Do I care? Yeah, some about NPCC. However....his artwork is exceptional. I am not tired of it. I am in for a nice half-brick as well...free shipping would be nice though. Just say'n.

Re: Vengeance of Witches by Nicolai Aaroe
Caccabus tuck box is a bit too placative for my taste. Still good looking.
Backs are solid but don't blow me away. The courts do though . I love the look of them.
I would have wished for more changing artwork though. Always a missed opportunity imo, if you go for two editions but then keep the majority of it similar. Kind of a tuck swap in disguise.
Anyhow, great to see this funded.

somehow this result is not surprising, people expected a designer deck of punishments and finally got it: D, not a deck that looks designer and the cards are standard

Just a heads up that this deck only has 4 hours left. Loads of extras coming with it now, worth another look if you haven't already backed.
