Unread post by BoxerRebellion »

The name is still a Work in Progress I have to front of the tuck completed and working on the back just hit sort of a wall and would like some feedback and ideas thank you.

The bottom one does a better job at utilizing the space, but putting the name of the deck on the back design (or anywhere else besides the box, for that matter) usually doesn't add anything of value.

I also prefer two-way designs in 99% of cases, but the bottom design does look promising without being too glaringly one-way (if you remove the banner).

Thanks for sharing this design! I wanted to share some thoughts, but please keep in mind I am notoriously picky as a collector:

- I definitely like the second design better. As MagikFingerz mentioned, there is less empty space. I like the color and the little accent of teal, which could be used a bit more here and there.

- There are some design elements that don't seem to fit the theme. It seems like different decorative styles were created for different projects and just placed in the design, rather than having a unified approach to the decorative elements. You have some rustic decorations mixed in with very classical, refined decorations and I would definitely lean towards the rustic with this one.

- I really love your icons in the four corners. They are a great representation of different aspects of the outdoor life. I would consider swapping out the cherry icon with a split stump. It just doesn't seem to fit, unless you are intentionally giving a shout-out to Cherry Casino cards.

- The state of Utah is, unfortunately, a very simple geometric design. That might lead people to confusion as it may seem like just a random shape. I would either scrap the state outline or double-down and add a small "Utah" banner across the full outline of the state.

Great start and best of luck!

I love it when Bacon gives feedback. Safes me a lot of typing :) . All of what he wrote +1

I'm kinda confused though. For me it seems that the second picture is the tuck box front design and the top picture is the first draft back design or am I wrong?

Updated the back and Iโ€™ll make some changes to the tuck case art.

I like the changes! Though I feel like something is missing from the corners. I also think it needs... something that stands out/adds depth/pops, but I may be biased as I'm not a big fan of monochrome backs in general.

Oh, and did I mention I love when Tom posts as well :D .
I like the details in the corners (that are featured on the tuck box) and think as well that they should be incorporated at the card back. The ornaments leave a lot of dead/empty space.

And I'm with Tom on the depth as well. While I don't have a problem with monochrome backs, it is definitely harder to add depth to them. For the center of the card back did you think about the good old motive of the mountains mirrored in a lake? It would kinda make sense for that theme and you could make it subtly one way like an Orbit deck.

This plus try mirroring with a lake!
Move on, nothing to see here.
