Maybe, I tend to like the cute simplicity of OPC decks.

Managed to get my hands on a deck of these, but haven't opened them up or checked them out yet. Will let you all know! Also, we will be sitting down with Cam next Thursday on Deckin' Around, which should be an interesting show!
Quick Edit: Interestingly, they smell like wood varnish.

While the idea of the half brick is kinda cute it leaves the tuck box being butt ugly, imo.

Couldn’t agree more...I think the tuck is the worst of the series...the randomly scattered watermelon seeds look like bugs crawling all over the tuck box to me

Kinda makes you feel like you HAVE to get the half-brick box, right?
Business-savvy.

Seeing the tucks I will say that I give up on this deck, I like OPC but this isn't creative nor fun feeling. Marketing wise... good job, people now have to buy a half brick.

I dunno. Quite the opposite for me. If the tuck doesn't look good I don't feel the urge to spend any money on a deck. Especially not to get 6 of the ugly tuck-boxed decks.

Pardon granted
EDIT: I mentioned it before and I changed the title of the thread accordingly, the fruit decks Peelers, Snackers and so one are NOT by RiffleShuffle! They are produced by OPC! RiffleShuffle acts solely as a retailer.

Kinda crazy the pre-sales sold out so quickly, wonder if they still have some for the general release? I agree the tuck box is meh, and only seems to be an accessory to the half brick box. Speaking of which, I kinda wish the top didn't show the melon cut in half and was just an entire outer melon, but I guess that upsells you to picking up a whole brick. Nitpicks aside though, the most compelling thing to me is the cards themselves, and most of all, the cost. The price point imo, is a big part of why these are even successful in the first place. It's just so dang affordable to pick up a half brick, and it doesn't break the bank to actually USE the cards. Whether it be magic or cardistry or just cards w/friends, you're not hurting as much to see the cards bent or dropped or just the general disgust of people touching your deck with their dirty, dirty fingers (unless you're into that kind of thing).
Anyways, I know a lot of these "clipart icon w/ colors" get a lot of shit for being lazy and overpriced, which I agree with for the most part (looks over @ madison and schneider decks), but doesn't change the fact that I like using them as cards; and cards like that were what introduced me to way more awesome decks from talented creators like Gio, Lorenzo, and Lotrek. Everyone's interest in playing cards can start somewhere different is what I'm saying, but the biggest sources of exposure are poker and magic, and now slowly cardistry, all of which make good use of the iconic mirrored logo cardback design. (I know I'm going off on a tangent here, but there's only so many things to do while stuck in a tiny condo). I think a lot of creators of decks like that are missing the point that the cards should cheap enough to use, and not priced as a collector's item. If the cards sit unopened on a shelf, they're just not gonna get the same exposure to the general public as a deck in some kid's backpack that's getting used daily. I think OPC really hit that sweet spot, and I think Kevin Yu @ Riffle Shuffle understood that, and it's starting to show w/ how quickly these Carvers sold out. The Chris Ramsey plug for the Squeezers v2 probably didn't hurt either.
As for the "Exotic" deck and the Passport rewards thing, it's a cool bonus, but don't know how excited to be until I find out the fruit.

I hear you.
As playing card designs go in general, they could all learn from Organic on how to do it right, even if you're using clipart. The whole deck fits the theme. All the way taking the trouble to tweak the courts to reflect the themes for both colours and having the courts interact with the fruit. If $ wasn't so tight with so many nicer decks out there , I'll get be getting more OPC decks in the series. Amazing deal at less than $24 for 3 decks.
This is clipart done right and I use OPC as my example for all other clipart style decks. They are fun, different enough in nice ways and affordable. Not $15 for a JAB job and you don't even go the extent that OPC does with the courts and theme.
EDIT: Looks like JR's finally got someone copying his holo stickers for an exclusive deck loyalty program after nearly 1.5 years. Let's see how many more follow along.

Exactly my thought about the passport
. Not that it is a new invention or a KWP exclusive thing but yeah, curious as well to see how many will pick it up in the card community.

I really like OPC as I'm an alum of Ball State like both of them. The cards are much much better than the tuck. Still got two.
