Hey guys,
Belated Happy 2020!
As discussed last year on the development message board I am looking to launch my Baphomet deck on Kickstarter this year. Printed be EPCC or Cartamundi - priced 'around' $15 depending on final cost of production, postage, fulfilment and tax. The deck will be a black and gold (how original) with fully custom court cards, jokers (2 the same and 1 surprise), gold cold foil reverse and a foil Ace of spades. The tuck will be on black art card with embossed gold foil detailing. 1000 numbered run with individually numbered seals.
The court illustrations will be released in full closer to launch and I am thinking of releasing a handful of them throughout the campaign. Goals will be fairly standard i.e single deck with free global postage, 2 decks, 4 decks, half brick etc... but I am also going to have goals for one off cards and the original illustrations etc. Potential stretch goal for an alternate V2 tuck.
My question... WHEN should the campaign run? I was thinking March 1st until April? But I am very open to suggestions.
Please find below a few photos of the conceptual deck.
Looking forward to hearing everyones thoughts.
Cheers

As usual your artwork is superb! I like the back but I wish it had "more" to it and I wish it were 2-way but it's acceptable as is. I like the tuck but I would much rather see the title on the front of the box. I know you mentioned before that your fond of minimal decks but IMO you should think beyond minimalism- your designs are anything but! And believe me, I mean that as a compliment. Lastly, I'm not particularly fond of backs of cards and backs of tucks not matching but in this case It's close enough I guess.
I have no opinions on when to launch but I'll be checking it out at the least.

I really like it, curious to what the number cards look like though. Also, some other colours on the cards instead of mono color would look really awesome too not sure if that costs alot more to print

The only thing I would suggest is moving the Title of the deck off of the top of the tuck and place it in that blank space on the front of the deck above the image of Baphomet. Otherwise, these look cool...

March - April seems good. If I recall correctly, Lotrek, Jody and Gio are planning for Jan - Feb releases. So a March April release won't stretch our bank accounts much. For now that is...

Too many problems:
- Tuck is reminiscent of a Nicolai Aaroe deck.
- Single-color courts suck.
- Back design looks like a combination of 2 deck designs combined (can't place my finger on them).
- One-way back design does nothing to enhance this deck.

Id never seen the Aaroe deck before (Dominus Obscura) but I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. They do look similar, sort of a mash-up between my deck and T11 Artisans. Its really nice.
To your other points, I have actually had really positive feedback about this deck design; but as always, your criticisms are noted and appreciated. You really cannot please everyone.
If it's any consolation this deck will be fully illustrated.

We have a provisional launch date for Baphomet, the feedback RE the design and launch date has been mostly positive. It is looking like Cartamundi will be the producers of this deck, I am just waiting for final quotes and time frames. I have spoken briefly to S11 over Insta, and the beautiful Parlour decks are definitely the benchmark for Baphomets. Look, feel and handling; the only criticism I have of that deck (and its purely functional) is that I prefer a white border around the edge. I do ALOT of faros, cuts and fans... the beautiful gold edges would be noticeably beat up after 5 minutes of me handling them. I hope the inset gold framing and caduceus of my deck will give the elegance (wow factor) while retaining the 'usability'.
Additionally, the orange variant is still hovering around as a potential stretch goal; but to recite a piece of advice given to me on UC... too many designers screw up their campaigns by trying to offer too many colour options. noted.
Having said all that, genuine ideas for last minute improvements are very welcome.
Cheers

It's not the worst deck ever. What's the point of having a 1-way back design? If there's no point, then why does it exist...?

Lol. Thanks, I’ll put that review on the tuck.
The moons are different because it’s one of the key components of the Baphomet illustration the deck is based on.
Cheers.

Hi All,
Less than a month until launch! I am just waiting for final costs from Cartamundi for 1000 and 500 decks, additionally I am adding final touches to the campaign draft on Kickstarter.
I have uploaded a few pictures of the 4 Kings below, they lay out the illustrative style for the remaining courts. 4 Kings down, 3 Jacks and 4 Queens left to reveal:-
